i think youve answered your own question
"my mouse really sucks" buy an optical mouse you can get one for about 7 sterling or possibly clean your existing one
if indeed it is the mouse
if not its a case of hit cruise and practice

although im not sure what "sterling" is i supose ur right.

But still. arent there, like any cheats or trainers that will let me skip the race? im sure there must be.

Use free flight not point and click, much easier to negotiate the rings, just pay attention to where u r going.

If you throw enough mud ..some's gonna stick.

I haven't tried it, but I don't see why you couldn't fly out to the track and practice, before you accept Hovis's challenge. If I ever get tired of MP, I'm going to take all I've learned, and go thru SP again, then I'll try the practice trick.
BTW, sterling is Bretonian money, (just kidding)! UK money, like pounds-you can probably look it up in the newspaper.

yes, use freeflight. If your mouse is clean, you should see a big difference.

There is a cheat, but what's the fun in that.
I'm sure that after you beat the race without cheating, you'd be happier.
Use a light fighter, they sell one on BS the hood, a Cavalier I think, or get a Piranha at Leeds/London/Cambridge, it's just as good, but a bit better to fight with imho.
With a lightfighter it's allmost to easy.
It is possible with a freighter, I know some who did it, but I reccommand a light fighter.

I guess the key is to use a lf.

It's bad to cheat. ent out there in a freighter and got my ass kicked. Reloaded the savegame and bought the fighter that you can get on the battleship Hood.

I beat the race in a crusader. I don't really think agility matters that much. The key to winning is to cut corners. Just start turning for the next ring before you even go thru the ring before it. With the crusader I had a lead after the first 2 rings.

ya i actually got ahead of him in the crusader once but i didnt turn hard enough for one of the very last rings and i JUST missed it and the dick passed me.

the strategy guide says he makes a blunder near the end of the race allowing u to pass but he never does.

i still want to know that friggin cheat!

Ok, if you realy want the cheat, search all forums for Hovis and there are many posts about this. Several of them talk about the cheats that have been mentioned. I too was have much difficulty. I was going to try the cheat myself but decided I would give it another try. I didn't worry about where Hovis was, I just concentrated on the rings and getting thru them. Didn't worry about cutting the corners, didn't worry about getting ahead of Hovis, just concentrated on completing the race. He beat me the first time, gave me a second chance, like always, then the second time he blew it in the last quarter of the race and I went on to win.

Don't worry about where he is, just concentrate on completing the race. Trent will ALWAYS win in the end.

DON'T USE CHEATS!
It's like a drug. You'll do it once, and really like it, and then find another one, and another, and another, and soon, you have absoulutly no Idea what happened and feel really icky about life and commit suicide and no one will care and...oops, lost track of the cheating and moved onto the drug part.
