Competition: FLDQ - Freelancer Done Quick

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

This is quite acceptable - although you may want to consider doing a real FLDQ run when somebody posts a lower time with the same number of battleship kills or higher.

Making a screenshot is as simple as hitting the print screen button (PrScr? Don't know, I have a German keyboard), and trimming the picture and converting it to JPEG to make it smaller are not difficult either. Where it gets tricky is actually posting the screenie. If you have webspace of your own then you can upload the picture and link it from your post via the IMG tag. If you don't then you can mail me the screenie and I put up your entry.

Doing an FLDQ run can be quite interesting because it poses some new challenges. For example, there is now doubt that the most powerful ship for the Liberty phase of the campaign is a Dagger outfitted with Xenos Adv. Scorpions, a Pyros Turret Type 1, an Adv. Stunpulse and perhaps some missiles if you like them. With such a setup I have slain Centurions, Stilettos and oodles of Falcons (to get a full complement of Catapult missiles before mission 5 - one missile per Unioner Falcon).

But obtaining that rig takes a looooong time so you'll probably get better results with a Patriot or Defender (or even a Rhino) and some kit that you can obtain along the path of the campaign or with very short detours, like hitting the Balboa wreck in California (two minutes overhead net you a Pyros Turret Type 1 plus $30k's worth of cardamine plus two Pyros Type 2 guns that'll be very useful later in the campaign) ...

Cool, I'll get that taken care of as soon as I have time to tinker with JPEGs. I'll have to mail you the picture, as I have no webspace of my own. Something I just noticed is the time for the unmodded entry. Something less than 6 hours. I wasn't trying for time, but it still took me 10 hours or so. Thats something to shoot for.

There are only 5 killable battleships that register in the player info screen but there are plenty of cruisers and these register as battleship kills, too.

Mission 4
- Manhattan: 2 cruisers
- Benford: 2 cruisers (the third cruiser - LNS Freedom - is indestructible)
Mission 7
- Leeds: 1 cruiser
- Tau-29: 3 cruisers
Mission 9
- Tohoku: 1 'cruiser' (Destroyer KNF Hissatsu)
Mission 10
- Sigma-13: 4 battleships, at least 4 cruisers
- experimental shipyard: 3 cruisers
Mission 11
- Zone 21: 3 cruisers, Battleship Omaha

Total: 24

Battleship Unity in mission 4 can be gotten as well (did so once by accident) but I guess the odds are something like 1:1000; any battleships not mentioned in the list do not register as kills as far as we know (for example Goethe/Schiller in mission 7, Musashi in mission 9).

There are at least a dozen battleships total that can be killed, more than 20 if you count the experimental battleships in mission 10. But most of them don't register in the player info and so they are not very useful for FLDQ-like endeavours.
