lol - oddly enough, I don't think that question has actually been asked. If you want to know, play the story, but there's a lot of information about them spread around, so I'll collate the important bits.
20 million years ago, there was a race that colonised the galaxy called the Dom Kavosh. They had a massive empire, and "created" the Nomads to be the caretakers. Zoom forward 20 million years, and a Rheinland expedition discovers an uncharted planet. They dig through the crust and find these Nomads, who view them as a threat. The Nomads are parasites, possessing key military figures in Sirius with the hope of starting a civil war. Then, the idea is that once the Houses have reduced each other enough, the Nomads sweep in and mop up what's left. But that was only the idea

Thanx for the info. I was only trying to be cute. I'll give up on it though, seeing as I have been told I do not have the legs for it. Seriously though, I find it fascinating that something so mundane as the Monkey Planet to be so popular.........

The monkey planet is popular with people who've only just discovered it, before it gets boring. However, we get lots of new people all the time, that's all. I prefer the actual system, with its eerie pillars pointing towards the (glitched) sun. And, did anyone know that the "blockage" you can see at the other end is actually the Dyson Sphere? I had a look at the way the systems are positioned, and there's not much else it could be
