Ideas for my next ship....please help

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Ideas for my next ship....please help

I'm currently in the 'void' between mission 5 and 6. Pilot evel 11, I have about $60,000 at the moment and I have a nicely kitted out Cavalier.
I'd really like to go and get a corsair ship but I understand its too much for me at this point....
Can anyone give me an idea of a good ship to go and buy at this point - I can afford up to about 80,000-perhaps 90,000 if I do a few more missions.

The main reason I want to get a new ship is because I went to Tau-31 and attempted a few missions, I almost made it but I realised my ship was just not of the same standard - weak armour and relatively weak firepower.....

I know there are some reasonable ships in the Kusari systems - is it possible to get there at this point in the game?
Thanks for any help

Well, I used the Barracuda until I bought the Anubis, which I used to play through the rest of the SP missions. The Barracuda is OK, I guess...

The first time I played SP, I used the Cavalier until I got to the Anubis. Now, I am playing SP all over again, and I bought the Crusader. It is better than the Cavalier, and works quite nicely. It looks a little odd though (a little, haha, no, A LOT odd looking). And, I don't know if you did this, but if you get all three of the abandoned ship crashes before you run from the Liberty system with Juni: you will be set for the rest of the game (financially that is...).

Thanks for the help, I didnt get the 3 wrecks, i guess I'll do that when ever i'm EVENTUALLY allowed to get into the liberty system without being shot to smitherines....
I did consider a barracuda, can I get it nearby? (im in bretonia) - I just need something thats a step up, im now level 11 and it seems like the enemies (in random battles) get harder on you the higher the pilot level is....(sorry if this is an obvious fact - its just i havent read it anywhere)
Its like im riding a tricycle at the age of fifteen at the moment....I NEED MORE POWER! LOL : )
Perhaps 3-4000 shields - closer to 4000 would be better and a decent amount of equippable guns and turrets (5/1 or something like that).
I dont think I can get to the next level without getting a better ship to fight tougher missions and get my value up.....

thanks for any help

I recommend the Hawk light fighter. At least until the Anubis is available. The Hawk's a good little ship.

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

OK, I'm abit stuck at the moment, I cant really get anywhere to buy a new ship - Hostility mainly, I cant fend off more than 5 Bounty Hunters in my ship, I cant really play any missions BECAUSE of the weak cavalier. And I HAVE to raise my rating to get to the next mission.....

I've been trying in Dublin to get a Wolfhound - at least I will stand more of a chance with this, but the bounty hunters wont let me get there at all.

I dont know what to do.....
I want a new ship but everyone has just become so hostile and I'm pretty much outmatched by 6 or more ships, any lower and I can slowly take them out.....

Damn, I really am baffled as to what to do to progress now, I just cant get a ship.....Any help?

if your in dublin go to the battleship essex (any will do i suppose) and get the bretonian heavy fighter it can handle 6 guns/missles with 4 being level 5. its a great ship IMHO except that with four powerful guns (and two missles) i tend to run out of energy too fast. good hunting.

Bretonian heavy fighter will be the best choice.. If you take barracuda, you'll tend to break its wings off...

..and I just wonder, where do I buy one of those?...

Post Thu Apr 24, 2003 12:15 pm

Well, I could get the crusader, but the armour is not a great improvement on the cavalier, perhaps i could get it then go and get the wolfhound - a much nicer option i think.....
The closest the barracuda can be bought from the bretonian systems is in Cortez - but im hated there and cant get in to get a ship.....

I guess the crusader will do for now....
thanks

barracuda's wings don't just break off.. i never got a scratch on my hull once (except radiation fields) in the SP all the way till i got the anubis.

presently, my world is upside down, so if u do not mind, u'll have to tok to my a$$

time to put an end the floating blue bastards[![!

You can buy the Barracuda in Kusari. In Bretonia I had Crusader...

I've just started the 7th mission i think - where youre trying to escape to the boder worlds with quintane.....With loads of rhienlander battles.....
LOL, I'm still using a cavalier because I havent had the chance to get the Crusader.....I would have got it when I was back in dublin but I had to race that dude and the cavalier would have been a tougher bet.....
LOL....i'll try and make it through this but I really doubt I can do it with a measly Cavalier.....

Get the crusader. The hull dont matter, it got 2 more guns than the cavalier, which equals (quicker kills) and you can get better shields with it too. Also your not going to find a shield with anything close to 4000 at the place where you are. Get above 3000 shield units and your in luck. If your in leeds, you can go to that moon that doesnt have a trade lane and you will find a battleship there that has the crusader. Try to find a guardian or adv. guardian shield, its the best one at your level.

Get yourself a Legionairre for the time being. You can't have pissed off the Junkers that bad, so go to Trafalgar base.

YES, it has exactly the same weapon layout as the Cav, but it has two aspects that nobody here ever seems to take into account:

It has significantly higher weapons batteries, so you can max out the weapons without breaking a sweat. The Cav will bleed energy if you try to outfit it with a pair of Rippers and Adv Rippers.

It has a VERY small cross-section. The Cav is a very fat and very easy target.

Well, I cant get a legionaire - lol i HAVE pissed of the junkers....more than anyone else I think - I just used to hunt them in new york cos they were easy kills.....
Well, Now I want a crusader but I've started a mission and cant get it, I think i may have to load up a previous game : (
