Ensure that the level of your character is at 32 or above. That is commonly accepted as a factor in their drop rate, and I can confirm that from my own observations as well. Someone mentioned to me that the number of kills you have with your character also affects the drop rate, but I'm uncertain whether this or true or not.

yeah i really wanna try out the eagle but i just remembered i never took the time to get "friendly" at freeport nine. I dunno if yall play star wars galaxies all my friends do but i dont but back to topic i heard they are gonna upgrade it eventually to were they can have intergalactic battles and they are thinking of using the setup that freelancer has for travel but i dunno about the engine though. anyway i have found out that titan does fly slow but its disadvantage def. makes up in nanobots/shield stuff and its firepower...outa curiousity i havnt seen anyone mentino on the site what they really prefer in weapon power i like having several reavers or skyblaster B there are some ok class 10's out there but the refire rate sux do the math and if u did it right u have more chance of hittin a ship with a bigger impact with more shots that have a fast refire rate...what do you think...?

Lets not have this discussion degenerate into which ship/loadout is the best. I have no problems with those topics, but there are several recent threads discussing them on every single TLR forum atm.
This thread is imformative in nature, not an opinion oriented discussion. Let's stick to facts: All there is to 'know' about guns, rather than all there is to 'say' about guns.
And of course... Bump. In fact: Super-bump! Why this thread isn't sticky is beyond me. It is obvious that dozens of players, possibly more feel this thread is important enough. I'm sure the thread has been noticed by the moderators, which leaves me wondering if they actually play the game. This is the single most useful thread of any I have seen to date on the forums. In combination with FLDatastorm, and a commodity database, this thread rounds out the three external information sources I use for the Freelancer game.
Someone really should throw all of this data into excel, or a database, and post it for download, so it isn't lost to the community; ending up at the bottom of an archive filled with flames, personal anecdotes, and other regular forum-fare.
