Missile Boat!!!

Missile Boat!!!

Yeah...so I took my Titan and loaded it with lancers, cannonballs, paralyzers, and the like....lets just say a missle boat is not very economically feasable. After taking a mission at Malta for 240K I only made a profit of 20K after replacing all the missles I fired. Anyone else tried the missle boat idea and have any luck with it?

no...no missile boat..
Javelin are way to expensive. Better stick to my Nomad guns.

..and I just wonder, where do I buy one of those?...

Frankly, I hate missles. They are slow sometimes, expensive, the cheap ones can't home in or have a large damage radius, so, in solution to that problem, I give you, LEVEL 10 GUNS! A Titan can hold 4 level 10 guns and 2 below level 10 guns. I reccomend 2 Diamondbacks, 2 Guardians, and 2 Buckshots. You can take a Large space station out in about 15 seconds.
P.S. If you like missles, I hope I didn't offend you, I just prefer guns to missles.

I wouldnt even waste one hardpoint on a missile so respect for trying 6

I think it has been conclusively proven that the balance between guns and missiles needs to be adjusted, there are a few mods that attempt to address this. For missiles that cost as much as the paralyser etc. i would expect multiple heatseeking warheads. Maybe they could make a wee cup of tea too...

One time I loaded my Sabre with four missle launchers and the lesser torpedo plus two guns.

When a group would approach me head on, I would launch all four missles at max range then pull straight up and drop a few mines. That barrage usually took out 2-3 and sometimes all 4 ships. Yes it was expensive, but when you have over 5 million to burn, who cares? ;-)

I would love missiles if they wern't so damn slow/unmaneuverable. However, they are, and so i don't use any..except for Sunslayers, if only because they do the most damage. If I may quote my brother on this- "so what if they're not effective? They do the most damage, so buy them."

I keep a few around. Since only up to class 9 missiles are available, you have nothing to lose by mounting them...after all, by the time you get an Eagle/Sabre/Titan, you have cash to burn, and it's not as if the loss of 2 class 9 guns is going to make much of a difference when you have 4 class 10 guns already. If anything, you'll save power.

And besides, it's fun to use the missiles...it's just so cool to lob a pair of cannonballs at a transport and watch it blow sky high.

Yeah, i can imagine it would probably be sweet to scream off a few cannonballs at a train and watch it rip.
The sad thing is i just cant bear the thought of not having the max (or near enough taking speeds etc into account...) possible beam damage per shot. I know its totally overkill even against nomads, the thing is i just want it
By that rationale, basically the same as maswastage's brother, i did have the sunslayer for a bit. But then i got really pissed of at people lane hacking you etc the running away. So i let the usnslayer go in favour of the hornet. It is so much more satisfying to waste some that thinks they've got away

i made my ship a missle boat... after i modded it. i never see enemies with stalker missles so i changed them so that
1. you dont need ammo.
2.they do 24,000 damage to hull/12,000 to shield
3. move at 1275 m/s
4. have a range of 10,000
5. have a turn rate of 14-point-something.

lets just say beating the game again was realllllly easy. 3 would be overkill for a BS, and i had 6 of them mounted. then my turret was a gun. it was really cool

gee, that guy's cool.

The main thing that sucks about the missle boat is that firing that many missles is all well and good, but since there is no blow through damage it usually takes two salvos to kill a ship (with the exception of a train). But I have to say it is pretty funny watching my level go from 36 to 34 on a single mission!!!

anyone know how to get the Sunkill torpedo launcher from the Bundschuh?

Sunslayer, and yes. The torpedo is on Bruschal base in the Frankfurt system. You'll need to be on really good terms with the Bundschuh before they'll sell it to you.
