8 sleeper ship?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

wow, it's surprising wot a rumour can do. I've just thought of sumthing but it all counts on the OLD storyline (The one where Sol goes boom).

There was 8 sleeper ships. 5 ones launched, 3 on standby. When the Bretonia, Liberty, Kusari, Hispania and Rhienland made it past the blockade, the other 3 were deserted. Then the Nomads showed up and the sun goes boom. Because of some guys who were supposed to move all 3 sleeper ships to the launch pads but was too lazy, one of them was left on the dark side of Pluto. The nomads then launch that energy thingy at Sol and it goes boom. Only 2 of the ships were destroyed do the spare sleeper ship was launched by the guy who survived to go to Sirius to warn the Alliance of the Nomads. The Nomads were probably elsewhere buggin' the hell outta ET for 200 years or something, long enough so that the people in Sirius were strong but forgot about the Nomads as they never bugged tham at all. The Nomads waited and waited and waited and... (You get the idea) ...until the Rheinlanders find the artefacts. Sinclair finds one of Planet Pygar and that theif with the space cigarette steals it. He goes to deliver it to some other guy on Freeport 7 and the Nomads notice this. They go to steal it back so that the Humans can't get rid of them. That's when Trent and everybody get's involved.

The Sleeper Ships Are-
Bretonia - UK
Liberty - US and Canada (nothing against Canada)
Kusari - Japan
Rheinland - German
Hispania - Hispanics (makes sense :-) )
Other Sleeper 1 - Backup
Other Sleeper 2 - Backup
Other Sleeper 3 - Backup (used for the guy to tell Sirius)
I'm guessing the backup ships were mixed.

This may leave some quiestions unanswered, but it fits in to all that's there.

okay probably there was initially 8 ships but near the completion of the game they decided 5. now maybe they forgot to take out some quotes during the game such as the bartender mentioning it or something, either way im still interested to know where the Hispania went.

I found the Hispania earlier today. I can't remember where it was, but it was in an Outcast system. It's behind planet Malta in the Hispania Debris Field, that's all I can remember. I had a look inside too but I had to run 'cos I pi$$ed off the Bounty Hunters and Outcasts.

DEAR GOD!!!!!
182 (183 now, i guess) posts on 10 pages?!?!?!?

Can't you people see the pain this thread is in??? Can't you see it suffering?????

Let die in peace!!!!

(could I have used more punctuation???????????????????????)

Actually, I doubt it will be suffering. It's been blessed with having the most argumentable (Is that a word?) topic yet. It may even make it to 190 posts. Your thinking more a 'Glass is half-empty' approach when you should be thinking 'The glass is about to become o% full when I drink it ... unless that annoying stuff u get left at the bottom is still there'. Maybe this topic should be renamed to "Freelancer Conspiracies" and be made sticky? Maybe I'll stop saying maybe.

oh for God's sake! The whole point of StarLancer was that it was "Cold War" blocs in outer space; America and it's NATO allies plus the Japanese as well against the Eastern Europeans, the nastier Middle Eastern countries and Far Eastern communist countries. Seeing as the French and Italians are both mentioned in SL as well as America, Britain, Germany, Japan (but not Spain so why do they get their own sleeper ship?) then you have another 2 there for Freelancer.

I reckon that the "missing" nation must be Canada as has been said because although it would be bigger than the American ship, and naturally parked right on top of the Liberty, it would have a special cloaking device so that no Americans even knew it was there. It's wreck is probably located somewhere just outside the Alaska system, but as the French didn't make it either then no-one knows what it is because they can't read the markings.

Alternatively it could well be the Aussies but they prob. missed the flight as the Test match was on and they were all pissed anyway. Having said that their descendants are merrily serving away in Bretonian bars and hotels! What's a New London pub without an aussie barman or girl?

No indians either I noticed which must have been a terrible cultural shock to the Bretonians, no curries at the weekend, I for one would have been on the first sleeper ship straight back! btw the way no tea either in Bretonia if you look closely, they must ahve made the teabags they took with them last an awfully long time. My cryopod* would have been chock full of tea, sugar, milk, cigs, curry powder, HP sauce, lard, beef dripping and all those other things which make our British culture so distinctive superior to all others Seriously if I couldn't take all the stuff I like I wouldn't go. What's the point of escaping to some "distant " star sytem if when you rebuild your civilisation you can't go for a curry on a Saturday night after 8 pints of lager and insult the waiters and taxi-drivers?

* actually I'd have had 2 crypods, one for me and then one for the wife, she'd have to look after all the stuff of course, that way I'd have all me goodies plus some nookie when we got off the ship. Sorted!

Funnily enough the other day I saw "When worlds collide" for the first time in years, and the top scientist fella does mention that "other nations" were building their own space arks/rocket ships whatever.

You people are fruits!!!
We, the canadians hitched a ride with the americans, and then, once we got there, we thought, aw screw it, so we went and set up shop in Hudson(Obviously named after the Hudson Bay....) Any ways, you must look at the simple question of Population. #1 China. Enemies of the alliance therefore exempted. #2 India, and therefore possible if not probable. Down the line it evens out so you then look at power. If earth broke out into an all out space cold war, then why do you think the aussies would have much to do with it??? 16 million people, half of canada's population, so they would fall, fast. Africa is a possiblilty, as well as, hmmm..... well.... SOUTH AMERICA!!! You people never even mentioned an entire continent!!(Dispite the possibilty of that being the hispania.)So there's your three others. India(And surronding nations) African alliance of some sort, and South america(And if the hispania's from south america, than a spanish ships was one of the three, plus the intro said the ships were christened after their patron nations, and most of south america speaks portugese)

Why don't you go outside and play hide and go F**k your self???
"Trust me woman, if i could walk on water, i would drag you out to the middle of a lake and hold your head under untill the Bubbles stopped[![![![!"(Stewie, Family guy)

I thought Portuguese was only spoken in Brazil, everyone else in South and Central America speaks Spanish because of the Treaty of Tordesillas...

back to "reality:"

it could have been a South African sleeper ship of course, called the OraanjVriiStaat maybe, it would have been multi-racial of course (but the blacks would still have had all the dirty jobs!)

The Irish clearly went on the Bretonia because they're still fighting in the Dublin system. Mollys indeed...

Thinking about it, South Korea would be a better idea. Totally in with the Yanks, hate communists, and rich enough to afford their own sleeper ship, the Daewoo, hence when it's wreck is found you can say, "that'll be the Daewoo.."

Post Mon Jun 16, 2003 4:24 pm

lol I hope that Daewoo don't make cars like that or I'll be getting a something else. It'd be really funny if in an expansion pack we hear of a secret Scandanavian sleper ship called the Skoda, 'cos then we can say "It's a Skoda. Honest!"

Skodas are from Czechoslavakia, or rather the Czech republic as it's known now. Volvos are from Scandinavia (Sweden)

Post Mon Jun 16, 2003 6:02 pm

Oh well, it still had scope for comedy. I don't know diddly about cars, just PC games and what Hardware to get for ur PC. My pc's a mid range one really. GeForce 3 ti 200, AMD Athlon XP 1700, nearly 100GB hard drive space, some soundcard that I can't remember the name of and 2 CD drives (one normal and a CD/RW Drive).

Yeah we canadians got royally screwed. you'd think they would incorporate all G7 nations, but no instead they took 4 countries and eased other cultures into it. Or maybe Canada was part of the coalition.. hmm.. id be happier with that then thinking canadians have nothing more then a little base in sirius.

Post Tue Jun 17, 2003 2:04 pm

I wonder what happened to Switzerland? Would they have been neutral in the Alliance-Coalition war? Would a Swiss sleeper ship look like a giant piece of cheese, or maybe a cuckoo clock? I think it might have been called the "Fondue" or the "Rolex..."

also there could have been a Belgian sleeper ship, but no-one would have noticed it at all, hence why there's no record of it.

An Italian ship would obviously have flown backwards...

Post Wed Jun 18, 2003 4:02 am

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this idea already(10 pages, I not reading through it). But has anyone considered that some nations built 2 sleeper ships for thier group?

Post Sun Jun 22, 2003 4:27 am

Umm, has anyone considered that australians might have had their own ship, or some aussies might have gotton ontol the bretonia or the liberty, hey, i distinctly remeber talking to a zoner that had a very fake aussie accent that so far only americans and the crocodile hunter have been able to reproduce.

CRIKEY!!! LOOK AT THAT!!!

haha, lol

Although, if some aussies did get off of earth and hittched a ride on a sleeper ship i guess im gonna have to make a mod about it... Yes i know theres a australian system mod out but, heh i like to make things plus i was considering this a LONG time ago (Hmm, 2 minutes into the game when i first bought it methinks...)

Hmm, maybe a group of aussies nogotiated with the brits or americans and got a couple of hundred ppl on a sleeper ship and when they got close to somewhere good (Maybe a habitable planet that was a smidge too small for the brits or americans but good nonetheless) and took some shuttles down.

AUSSIE! AUSSIE! AUSSIE!
(Come on you know the rest of it!)
