Sabre is the best lvl 10 ship

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Sabre is the best lvl 10 ship

I tried each of the top 3 ships. Here is what I have concluded:

Armor:

#1 Titan
#2 Sabre
#3 Eagle

Manuverability:

#1 Eagle
#2 Sabre
#3 Titan

Weapon power:

#1 Sabre (due to ability for turret to fire in a foward arc)
#2 Tie - Titan/Eagle

Winner: Sabre

Sabre - 2/2/1
Titan - 1/3/2
Eagle - 3/1/2

The combination of the manuverability with the extra firepower makes Sabre the clear winner. Titan flys like it is in soup and Eagle doesnt have the firepower of the Sabre.

one thing i wanna clear up. does the eagle have a forward firing turrent?

Post Tue Mar 25, 2003 4:16 am

No. Sabre is the only one (AFAIK) that has the FWD Firing turret....However...I am currently hated by Corsairs and Red Hessians....and don't want to find out....lol

Currently using the Titan, have used the Eagle....Like the eagle...But where I am now...getting jumped by 8+ titans....I need the armor....lol

Kinda hard to dodge when you are surrounded....and getting hit from ALL sides...

It is still my opinion that the Eagle is the "king of dogfighters" as I like to say. I don't think any one of the top three vhfs is better than the others, it just comes down to the player's opinion. As for the forward firing turret: my weapons drain enough as it is, why do I want to increase that drain with a forward turret? Not having the turret gives me just slightly more energy, which means I can continue to fire my other guns slightly longer and I am definately going to do more damage than just 1 more turret could provide. I know the turret energy might be something very meager, but it does add up in the end. Heck, if I can fire a Diamondback just one more time instead of a turret I'll do more damage. I don't simply see it has having one additional gun, I see it as having a wasted energy drain.

I have branched 3 characters from the sp line, each flys a different ship, that being the Titan, Sabre, and Eagle depending on how I feel that day. I think each ship is great in its own environment. All 3 can mount the same weaponry, in the case of the Sabre its turret can fire forward, but if you can switch to turret view and still control the ship/aim/ and dodge enemy fire in the middle of a big 4+ ship fight then you got me whuped. Even still that adds one class 9 weapon to a mix of 4 class 10's and 2 class 9's.

The titan while having a huge hull, is not the best dogfighter. I like the titan in radiation zones where having a huge hull with a 71 nano pool will keep you there for a long time.

Next is the Eagle, again no forward firing turret, smallest hull and smallest nano/shield battery storage of the lot. But best agility. While again I enjoy flying all 3, my overall view is that in a dogfight I would take the more agile craft as the shields will be the same. Even in a titan, if all my shields are gone I find that the extra armor will give me about a 2-3 shot longer life span than the Eagle. Weapons are rated in damage per second, if the eagle takes one less second to turn in a big dogfight than a sabre/ and I do lots of turning/sliding/burning/stopping. Then that is one less second of damage I am dishing out which directly turns into more damage I am taking.

Just my 2 credist worth, hehe, but seriously, pick the one you like and like the one you picked. If you love using turrets, then definiately go sabre. If your turret (like mine) is mostly for looking around the beauty of space while cruising to a spot, then go titan or eagle. But most of all, just have good time

As for the power drain thing, use 2 nomad cannons.

Nomad cannons = lvl 10 weapons that use 0 energy

I actually use less energy firing all my weapons + turret in a Sabre than someone else using less weapons but not using nomads.

In short, Nomad cannons make power consumption a non-issue. If your having power problems add a nomad or 2. If not, go with the most efficient 1075 hull damage guns (wildfire, BWG..etc)

where do you get nomad weapons? (are the in MP too?

Post Wed Mar 26, 2003 4:24 pm

yap they are in mp (otherwise i wouldnt fly around w/ 4 NECs *g*) ull getem if u blast nomads away (D'OH!). may take some time, coz they dont drop much

Eagle - For the fast paced people
Sabre - For the medium paced people
Titan - For the slow paced people.

More armor for the slower you are.

If your a fact thinker and you have the equipment, and you can dodge the things behind shot at you, the eagle is your best bet, if you dont like dodging much, Sabre, and if you just like sitting there and shooting while the enemy is approaching you, Then its the Titan.

Actually, the Eagle has a forward facing turret, it is just on the belly of the fighter. That would make its firepower tied with the Sabre. And the Eagle can hold 63/63 nano/batteries, and same with the Sabre. havent tried the titan so i dont know about that one. Besides, the eagle looks better =D

Titan is 71/71 for nano and batterys

Meaning its heavy hull + more nano and shield - ONE little turret = it could possibly be the best if you know how to use it

But at the same time that applys to all the ships... if you can use them correctly.

I think that the 3 VHF's are so close to each other that it makes little difference. In the eagle you can dodge a lot of the things thrown at you, so you don't need the extra armor and bats/bots; in a sabre you can dodge some of the fire, so you need a bit more, and in the titan you can dodge nothing so you need loads of armor and repairs. I think that they are equally balanced in that regard. So I have to say I prefer the sabre because I can put a skyblast b turret or pulse turret and that's another level 9 weapon doing significant damage (or taking shields out in 1/2 the time). Since I have NEC's, energy draw is completely not an issue.

i just buy and used Titan and realy took big way to buy it,now its my right to say that..THIS SHIP SUCKS!i spend almost 4 hours to get it,and what i see is just big fat turtle!but ofcoure a strong one but slow one!
i used to usesabre before it and sabre was better but not in the omega 41 -5 systems i think.i never used eagle, isnt it the one "king" character(inthe story) used.it says i could find it in omicron theta port 9 in zoners place.where is system?

After flying around a couple of weeks in a Sabre (dumped the Titan pretty early on account of it being too sluggish for me). I decided to check out the Eagle for a change. I can only say I love it.
For some reason I only get hit half as much as I did when flying a Sabre. It handles nicely, too. As for the weapons; I don't really need the extra turret. Got more than enough firepower for any job the game can throw at you.
