Wow, the uber-fighters really ARE uber!

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

BAH! Everyone gripes that the games to easy, you get an Uber ship it is. Fly round Rhienland in a Dagger (The best looking ship in the game) and see how easy it is. OK I could afford a Sabre, but I like Light fighters cause they can actually turn, shame there all butt ugly.

DA PLEASE make Light fighters faster than those bricks.

I have eagle with 2 Salamancas mk2, 4 nomad cannons, and lvl 10 shield =)
for fun I fly to Omicron Gamma (corsairs hate me) and irritate those titans until there's like 6-8 of them, then we go fighting =).

I figured out if you hold your afterburners almost all of the time (realise it when targets gets really close, and just tail 1 titan at the time, they can't do diddely to you.

thank god, I was beginning to think I was the only freak who traded in my sabre for a dagger cos I had more fun with the light fighter. I wont even take a stilleto.

I wouldn't mind being able to get my hands on a lvl 4 pulse turret, or some higher damaging weapons for the fighter, but otherwise I'm very happy in it.

And flying thru rheinland isn't a problem for me unless I go near the trade lanes... For some strange reason EVERY single trade lane in the game hates me, even though only liberty factions hate me (you'd think crossing to a different territory would stop the lanes getting every1 to gang up on you)...

Revenge, you have renewed my faith in humanity.

Heh yep, the game *is* extremely easy in a class 10 ship but I like it that way. I fought long and hard to get one so now I wanna enjoy it

By the way - hot pink Titans *are* possible and they're even more possible than you may think. You can mess around with the textures of the ships and do stuff like this:

Please don't laugh at my paintjob. I suck at this and found it extremely difficult to paint this ship at all.

I think it's odd that the "best" VHF are all non-aligned, i.e. not belonging to any of the great houses (unless you count Corsair to be a house, which you technically can do).

You'd think that the great houses with their budgets & scientists & engineers & military machine will have developed some serious firepower. But the 3 VHF are Civilian (Eagle), Sabre (Border Worlds) & Titan (Corsair). How the various Government managed to stay in power amazes me.

Personally I wish the Kusari had a VHF cause I loved the looks & designs of the Drake & the Dragon. Maybe in the sequel / expansion they'll release new ships for the great houses.

Also, I don't know why they make it so easy to purchase the miliary heavy fighters (i.e. Defender, Centurion, Dragon etc). I would have expected that military hardware will be quite difficult to get hold of.

About getting Sunslayers without killing cops...I haven't tried that in particular yet, but experience in getting other gear suggests that if you kill sufficient Xenos, you can make pretty much everyone at least tolerate you, and probably--eventually--like you well enough to sell you pretty much anything.
"Sufficient" means an awful lot when it comes to befriending factions that already dislike you, though.
I can only play on weekends (geography issue), so I can't try this out until then, but I was able to buy a Titan in just that way. Camped out near their base and on their patrol routes, whacked wave after wave of them with my Sabre, and eventually improved my reputation enough. It would probably be quicker to get your reputation to neutral, bribe the appropriate faction to make 'em actively friendly, buy your torp (or whatever), then repeat wholesale slaughter of Xenos to neutralize the factions you angered by bribing them.
FWIW, BTW, I went back to the Sabre after trying out the Titan and Eagle. To each his own, I guess.

It's better to burn out than to fade away

Maybe the reason why only zoners and pirates have class 10 ships is because they invested time and money into building ships while the houses spent their money for tradelanes, stations and stuff like that. You must admit that the pirates and zoners have some very bad infrastructure.
It still feels a little weird that the pirates have to hide in ugly radioactive systems because they didn't manage to take over.

I don't really have a favourite class 10 ship. It totally depends on my mood. I like the looks of the Titan, I like the agility of the Eagle and I like the Sabre's turret. But it's not like any of the three would really stand out - if you have ripper mines, sunslayers, firestalkers, cannonballs and nomad cannons you just have to shoot at your enemy a single time and the homing anti ship stuff will do the rest for ya. It's really just a matter of looks I guess.
