He's got Dynamic as opposed to Static IP most likely. Pros and cons to both.

This will explain it better

Post Mon Feb 09, 2004 5:07 pm

Yes, Stinger is quite correct. I have a dynamic IP - its not for covert sub ops at all (shh- no-one knows that i am intel!), and it certainly isn't cause i am a trouble causer, its a perk for AOL broadband. Now i could get it made static - but i like the fact that my IP will change whenever i connect. I can be banned from places - that aint a problem - its just that they would end up banning alot of other IP addies at the same time -lol. However, me being a total neurotic when it comes to security, its kinda comforting to know someone hacking at me one day, needs to find the new IP the next

Do you want to SEE YOUR IP ADDRESS

Post Mon Feb 23, 2004 4:17 pm

Sadly, I will never be an admin. I wish I could force my isp to give me a static ip alas they won't.

Demouser: I have no wish to join the play, but rather to see it enacted. My only concern is to avoid having the lands of Microsoftia bare down on myself.

Spammers: have C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\DATA\AUDIO\MUSIC\music_failure.wav playing back in ther head when they visit TLR

Mods have C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\DATA\AUDIO\MUSIC\music_victory.wav playing in their heads every time they remove Spammers

If you want to see your IP, you could always open a command window ("Run" from command prompt), and type "ipconfig". It's easier that way.

Why the hell anyone wants to be a mod???
It hard work to follow all those kids spamming around. Why? just to be able to say "click"? Or is it something about be in power? Mod is not power its obligation.

note: if you after decorating your name with "(moderator)" you'll be bad mod anyway.

no....its the respect. some people would like to be a mod...some dont...but i do, and it will probably never happen

And spelling ?
Lol, sorry. I know some people don't have english as a first language, and all posts are supposed to be in english so they're at a disadvantage. I've seen some locked topics though, and I don't really see why it was locked. The mods give a reason, but it doesn't really seem to be valid. EB (i think) locked a topic because it "hurt his brain?". It just seems ridiculous sometimes and unfair. I had a topic locked (by FF? Sorry, I don't know everyone well) by joking about spamming, but I don't think he saw it as a joke, so I sent an e-mail explaining. It just helps to have some warning sometimes before a topic is locked, and give the forumers a chance to debate whether or not the reason given by the mod constitues a lock, but not a really long debate, like 2 lines or something.

Anyone saw the Matrix (if not, you've been hiding with Osama in a cave I guess). Neo doesn't ask to become the one. The great leader Morpheus asks him to fulfill that task.

Same goes for a moderator. A site can't have dozens of it. I've been asked to become one because I was serving the community for a good three years, helping anyone who had problems. Dn't expect to become one, because only a few will have that privilege.

But not three years without spamming, without asking to become a mod etc. Ergo con sum Wolf, stop thinking about it
