How do you become a moderator?

I was wondering how you become a moderator, or at least a moderator for your own posted topics.

I've been a bad boy, I know but what if you want to remove some of other peoples opinions from your own posted thread?
I can delete my own stupid remarks ( and I have done so ) but I can't remove others that may be rude, offensive etc.

And without deleting the whole thread, its up to the admin or moderator.
Does the author/originator of the thread not get these options?

Obliged for a reply

I was wondering how you become a moderator

Various reasons. People with coding and html skills: Bargib himself, Stinger, EB, and Eraser (they made admins, a step higher than regular mod). Me, Wizard, Mustang, Tachyon made moderators because of our seniority (3 years plus! since the SL era) and congenial social abilities

Being Dutch (or reside in Holland, like in my case) also helps (for some unknown reason, Bargib likes to recruit Dutchies like the Pope likes to recruit Swiss as Papal Guards)

You can't.

@E-EXTREEM, just think how annoyed everyone would be if people could delete others' posts whenever they feel like it. You'd have anarchy on your hands and no one would come to the site anymore. There is a roundabout way to rid the other posts, I've found, but I'm not going to tell you as it is something that could be abused in the wrong hands.

DUS Fear Factor,

I'm keeping this in English, since it is an international forum.

No, I'm not Dutch. I said RESIDE in Holland. Proof: Wizard, Eraser and me live here, but I'm just a here for college. And there are American, Australian, Canadian, and Dutch mods, but none are Brit. So living there actually hurts your chance

Enough crazytalk - nationality had nothing to do with the chance. That was just a fun coincidental, factual anomaly .

As I said, it's more of a combo of tech skill, seniority and behavior.

Before you become a mod, wolf, you will need to make whatever you type comprehensible first

Post Wed Jan 21, 2004 4:56 pm

Wolfy, I could never see you being a moderator. No one could understand your reasoning for locking a thread. Here's a possible Wolfy quote if he were a mod and locked a thread:

your dumby being spam post back
but not not really
this locked good
yup

note to ff, i locked you real good

Get your own forums - then you are king.............unless your dumb like me, and they rely on IP verification and password for admins control panel.

Obviously, you guessed it, my IP changes, and therefore i am locked out of my own admins control panel. Makes my job simple though - i just answer questions, whilst my admins (which number 5!!) do all the hard work

With your own forums - you can be mini king.................but anything more and they all leave

Its is a power which comes with great responsibility as i have found out through my job at my mates forums, if u want to go and see me at work then look in my profile
