This is the closest thing I've had to a social life I've had in ages ... yep sad married father who works and comes home. Love the forum in it's current form (have actually spent more time reading here than playing the game this week), love the game and like hearing the banter. The best comment I have for this thread is one I've expressed before. The forums indicate what posts are welcome (looking for that lvl 10 shield etc), encourage clear post titles and people can choose what they answer. If someone asks how to beat Hovis, nobody puts a gun to an old timers head and forces them to enter the thread and nobody makes them have to spend time answering it. Read what you want, post what you want (within reason - agree with Erarser about ignorant, mindless threads slamming DA, the forum and the game- bar the constant abusers) and generally have a good time.

I used this site for weeks before actually finding Lancers Reactor by chance after getting stuck at 'the arch' mission. Initially I thought 'Lancers' was too geeky (and this coming from a comitted gamer with 20 years gaming experience).

The notion of flaming seems stupid, yes the new player maybe an idiot, but you don't need to go down to their level to prove your point, just give them the advice they are seeking, or indicate where they can find the information or simply shutup!

I agree, it might get boring reading the same pleas from newbie players or 'best ships', etc, but this is afterall a game, we are all doing it for some fun. These many pages on 'Lancers' is the icing-on-the-cake, where experienced gamers can showoff a bit, giving out knowledge that has been aquired over a long period.

Two things, Render;

First, this thread is not out of date - people are still posting. If it were an out-of-date thread, there wouldn't have been a post for a while, and it wouldn't be near the top of the list.

Second, if it's torture for you to read and post replies to this thread, then, after taking a very long time in thinking of the best solution that I can come up with for your particular dilemma, I can whole heartedly tell you that my best advice for you to be happier in your life, and to "save yourself the rest of this torture", is to not read threads that you know you don't want to read; additionally, and perhaps even moreso, I really, REALLY advise you not to post replies to the afforementioned threads, stating that it is torture for you to do so - it make you look silly, and if your statement is true, then it is also self-inflicted torture, which both does not gain sympathy from me, as well as making you look even sillier.

Render himself has basically proven my point. I think that if the regs cannot be persuaded to behave themselves, then there are probably a number of us who would appreciate a forum where they won't bother with us.
