This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

FPS

I was wondering if you were flying in a busy area with alot of ships or an asteroid field doesn't your FPS drop like a rock ? I'm above the needed requirements to play Freelancer but still I'm worried

or do not fight at all!

Depends on your settings and equipment. If you're in single player, and have a decent setup, you won't even really notice any drop in frame rates. Don't get me wrong here, there will be a drop, but it'll most likely stay above 30. If not, there are slide bars to tweak your settings, and the game will still look great.

Multiplayer may see this more. This is something we worked on extensively in beta testing. If you have maybe a dozen players, all in the same location, fighting several enemies in a crowded asteroid field, it may slow down a bit. It's still very playable, but your enemies may move very quickly. With each build, this was substantially improved, and I have no doubt in the final release that the code has been optimized so much that this won't be noticable.

If you do see any lag time, generally your settings are simply too high. FL has pretty low requirements for a game of this complexity, but high end users need not fear this. I have everything maxxed out, and FL just simply looks AMAZING!

sabre and Kinslayer...you'll both be just fine with your configs. Just keep up to date with all your drivers (beta version not recommended by me!) and upgrade to Direct X 9 if you haven't already.

Stinger, Have you noticed any diffrence between DX8.2 and DX9 ? I'm Curious, The game was adapted for 8.2 (AFAIK)

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tan Hauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.

Kinslayer

What operating system are you runing?

If it's XP or 2000 i'd drop in another 256MB Ram, if it's 98 don't mess with it.
The most importent thing is to eliminate any un necessery process running in the background and in your case taking CPU cycles, since you have an allright amount of memory. Also, don't think you made a mistake with the card, it's limited by the CPU bandwidth, but it still looks better and adds extra power to an old system.

MechWarrior, I don't think there is a game in existence that you can't play at that res with max settings.

Im wondering, do ppl post their 2 month old computer specs and ask if it can run a game just for the heck of it?

ex. I have a Pentium 5GHz with 5GB DDR2 Ram and a Radeon 30,000. Can i play pokemon?

Yeeesh.
