Depends on your settings and equipment. If you're in single player, and have a decent setup, you won't even really notice any drop in frame rates. Don't get me wrong here, there will be a drop, but it'll most likely stay above 30. If not, there are slide bars to tweak your settings, and the game will still look great.
Multiplayer may see this more. This is something we worked on
extensively in beta testing. If you have maybe a dozen players, all in the same location, fighting several enemies in a crowded asteroid field, it may slow down a bit. It's still very playable, but your enemies may move very quickly. With each build, this was substantially improved, and I have no doubt in the final release that the code has been optimized so much that this won't be noticable.
If you do see any lag time, generally your settings are simply too high. FL has pretty low requirements for a game of this complexity, but high end users need not fear this. I have everything maxxed out, and FL just simply looks AMAZING!
