I think the big win for freelancer (for me)is going to be the multiplayer, because in x-tension no matter how many ships you owned no matter how many times you go in to xenon space and kicked a** you knew that ultimatly you are alone. ultimatly you are the only real living person here. NPCs are great, they are needed to padd out the universe but real life and real people... thats where its at. one reason i am loving the EVE betas - but some time MMORPGS are just 2 annoying you can choose who you play with, you are forced to do certain things etc... where as lan'able games you have more control (who plays etc).
i am looking forward to it, I dont really think that people should go down the freelancer is better than X2 route and vica versa, they both have great things to look forward 2, they both have a deadicated set of fans who hopefully will make sure the games survive and sell well/acceptably....
One thing i would like to know is how much scope wil lthere be in the game for being a pure trader ?? Personally i want to buy a large ship and learn the trade routes find what sells well etc... get a bitg cargo hold... most of the review i see mention fighting and pirateing cause they are exciting... what i want to know is can i be a pure trader ?? (I know in the single player missions i will have to do a certain amount of fighting ).....
