This post was supposed to be after the one below?
So don't let my stories about some people having a pop make you believe I am not accepting people aren't having issues - there do appear to be several hundred with some issues for framerates on graphics cards that should pretty much eat the game (7800 GT etc). They are working on it, whether a definate fix appears is unknown. It's just that some have started to troll mercilessly - instead of seeking help, they simply start bashing at any opportunity.

As for high res screenshots - ask, and ye shall get I can leave them in the original TGA version, but they weigh in at 3Mb each , which will mean you get fantastic quality against these crappy jpg's, but take a good while to open. These are still under 100kb, i'll up the quality for any future screenshots I take

So how does a post made AFTER my big one, appear before it?

I wouldn't trust what you read Esky, I just wouldn't trust it (he says about to type his stats)

I am running:
3Ghz intel
1Gb mem
ATI 9800 Radeon 128Mb

The min specs are:
Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP with 512Mb ram
Pentium IV 1.7Ghz, or Athlon Equivalent
128Mb 3D Direct X9 compatible GFX card, with Pixel Shader 1.3 support
2Gb HDD space (strange, my install is 3.94Gb!)
Mouse, Keyboard (joystick optional) and DVD rom. Soundcard.

Recommended specs are:
Windoze XP
1Gb of Ram
Pentium IV 2.4Ghz or Athlon Equiv.
256Mb 3D Direct X9 compatible with pixel shader 2.0 support
and then same HDD space/mouse keyboard etc.

I originally started with High Texture and High Shadow, but lowered it to Medium Texture, Low Shadow. I do not have anti aliasing at all (it wouldn't handle well enough), but the screenshots I showed you are on these settings of mine (except the first one, which was high/high and playing reasonably well). My game plays fine, it may have the odd framerate issue in Argon Prime, but it is very smooth the rest of the time. They do say if you have 256Mb it is better, and of course - if your system doesn't have 1Gb memory, then it maynot run quite as well (512Mb is the min recommended, but the more mem, the better it runs).

People with x800, 6800 and 7800 series are using high everything, maybe AA set to 4 instead of 8 (whatever that means).

The 1.2 patch addressed many issues, and right now it's a case of "dumbness" as people may not have downloaded the patch yet, but start with huge rants instead.

Here is some info about GFX cards, i've copied and pasted because you cannot access the tech forum unless you register your game (discourages pirates - I know what people think of that, but since you actually talk to Egosoft employees instead of other game houses methods, they want to know they are helping genuine customers, and it only requires valid email address).

This won't line up properly, because the coding here is gay, so it is in the form as shown below (Make, model, DX Version, Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders). As you can see, any Radeon 95xx and upwards has pixel/vertex shaders nicely done.

Right now there are alot of feelings running high, there are some bugs, but after the 1.2 patch there aren't any causing crashes. The bugs are minor, the main issue seems to be people who don't have decent drivers, or codecs installed. On the main forum, there are a few whom are trolling every thread to complain in and out. We finally got Harlock776 to simmer down about X3, when he wasn't even going to buy the game. Didn't stop him flaming about X3 in nearly every post he could though, and dominating the cockpit thread with his complaints for 4 pages. There are several like this. There are up to 10 people who are basically hardcore flaming Egosoft at the moment, and so negative threads are popping up with some really harsh criticisms.

However, it is no secret that they released due to publisher deadline. The 1.2 patch was to try and make it so that players didn' suffer the publishers deadline, but sadly ALOT of people got the game 24 hours early (so the patch wasn't available, as it was for release day). The patch is large, but not as large as say BW2's 104Mb patch - which has had that game in production for 5 years or so.

Some issues are user sided, but they won't accept they have problems with their systems of course. Some gfx issues are due to drivers and so on, or settings. They are working hard to resolve it. Sadly, if some have an issue, they let the anger for the moment run away. Instead of just being an issue with GFX, they will rant on about how they haven't gotten enough content - or how they hate the storyline (mainly because they cannot do it, it's too hard for them). The rants on the general forum need to be taken with a pinch of salt, a hefty one. The technical forum is where the help really takes place, and issues are addressed.

It would also help if people read the FAQ as well

Thanks for that Chips. I'll check some reviews and, when I can afford it, I may just get it . *Hops off searching through empty wallet*

just give me the money, Rabbit. Your 386 won't play it, so let me get the benefit instead.

but do i even want to fly around in a spaceship without a cockpit? no not really. great pics and I'm sure its even better than x2 in terms of simulation but no cockpit? thats like playing an fps without guns, imo. I hate to say it but for now 'm going to pass on x3. sorry.
