This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Did I say not to be compassionate?? No. ALL I said was that calling his death a tragedy is wrong.

A woman dead at 45 from cancer is a tragedy. A teenager beaten to death in a park for not giving his attacker a cigarette is a tragedy. An infant, neglected by her mother, who dies of dehydration is a tragedy.

But this?

Four young girls, raped, is also a tradgedy, eh Wilde?

Scotty was a war hero, and a real actor. He lived a long time, but that is no reason his death is not a tradgedy.

Oh fer chrissakes you silly ewok-man. This ain't the place for that. A better question to ask would be about abortions.

He says that a baby dying of neglect is a tragedy, so what about a foetus being murdered? Is that not a tragedy as well?

Oh, and let's not forget Doohan's Alzheimers. He could easily have been functionally dead as a person for a while before this.

Tis a sad thing

Chupa, it most certainly is.

Once again, just in case you were accusing me of thinking of it as anything less than that, I condemn what happened to those girls. I just don't mix that with a barbaric lust for blood.

Frankly, I don't understand why death is viewed as an inherently bad thing (though I suppose it is unsurprising in a society in which impermanence is treated as the new devil). Death is an inevitable part of life--so celebrate Doohan's life! But mourning over his death...why?

To use a more Epicurean take on it, impermanence is not a cause for grief but an oppurtunity for creativity.
