My dream invovling death

Last Thursday night I had a dream where I died.

I'm wondering what people think of that. Has anyone else died in their dreams before? I've always heard that you never can die in a dream because you will end up waking up first. Normally I find this to be true, and I have had dreams where I've almost died but woken up. Not this time though. I distinctly remember dying.

FYI, I suppose if you want to know how I died it was from a house fire. Ignoring the whole first 4/5ths of my dream, I was running trying to get away from the flames and trying to reach a window or something to jump out of. I was running up a flight of stairs and they cracked and I fell down into the fire.

I didn't die at that moment, though I remember feeling the fire on my body and it hurt A LOT . I ran out of the fire outside to where I looked at my body and it was charred black and bleeding horribly. I remember feeling myself fall to the ground face first and then my sight leaving me. Then suddenly I had a view of where I had died and there was a gravestone with my name on it.

I thought it was really creepy and strange. I never remember dreams, let alone for half of a week. I suppose it's because this dream shook me up a little, almost horrified me. Afterall, how many people can say they know what it feels like to die? I think I got a little taste of what it's like.

The whole dream was very horror movie-esque and I'm making into a short story that I'll post in the stories forum.

Any thoughts?

Perhaps it was meant to get you thinking of where you are going when you die. If you died where are you going?

@ Alpha_Leader: Do you mean as in heaven or hell? I don't know if this violates the religion rule we have, but I'd hope I was going to Heaven

if we leave it at that and not talk about "where we are going when we die" then it shouldn't turn into religion

Most dreams have symbolic meanings right? Maybe anyone has got the time and patience to Google for explanations? And no, I don't have the patience

In my culture, dreams of person's death actually means something wonderfully great is coming that person's way! Either way it's only a dream.

In actual fact, dreams of death are actually never bad omens. Death in a dream always signals change. Also, consider this:

Fire

Depending on the context of your dream, to see fire in your dream can symbolizes destruction, passion, desire, illumination, transformation, enlightenment, or anger. It may suggest that something old is passing and something new is entering your life. Your thoughts and views are changing. In particular, if the fire is under control or contained in one area, it is a metaphor of your own internal fire and inner transformation. It also represents your drive and motivation.

To dream of that you are being burned by fire, indicates that your temper is getting out of control. Some issue or situation is burning you up inside.

To dream that a house is on fire, indicates that you need to undergo some transformation. If you have recurring dreams of your family house on fire, then it suggests that you are still not ready for the change or that you are fighting against the change. Alternatively, it highlights passion and the love of those around you.

To dream that you put out a fire, signifies that you will overcome your obstacles in your life through much work and effort.

or can overcome your obstacles. You could also be a lazy slacker and not do it
If you were running away from the flames, think about this: is there a problem that you are running away from, or something you are deathly scared of?

I used to have dreams where I died all the time...almost like Kenny, different every time . I drowned once, had some mountain fall on me, was buried under an avalanche...

I had my head impaled by one of the Alien's in Alien before down in a sewer system.

The thing picked me up, looked at me then impaled my head with the secondary set of teeth that come out of its mouth. My body then slumped to floor in a heap with a pool of blood coming from the wound.

It was nasty stuff.

Had mine years ago. Auto acident, my truck flips while avoiding a small child running into the road. I get thrown out and the truck lands on my legs. The couple aplogises running up to check on me. The fire department tried to get me out, but it is too late. I tell the couple , that it's ok and die.

If I had more time I'd go deeper into interpreting that dream, listen to everyone else for now.

FD: That reminds me of Stargate: Atlantis when McKay was about to die from the nanovirus. "I have a sister, and when you tell her, make it sound good. Tell her I died saving some.. kids. Yeah, kids. I also have some notes on the theory of unification, but tell them they were lost when I died saving the... kids."

To dream of being burnt by fire, you need to look at your own aggression. Have been angry or "out of control" latley or found yourself easily annoyed? Is there something going on in your life right now that is troubling or unsettling? Are you faced with change that you are not ready for?
