Battlestar Galactica
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.
space above and beyond was awesome!
why the hell wont they bring that show out on DVD, i STILL havent seen the final episode, i've read the script, seen screenshots, but ive not seen the show...its driving me nuts.
I love space fighting, be it in a game, in a movie, in a tv show. Space above and beyond just had me at hello. Its a shame that it wasnt succesful, but then the same could be said for firefly.
@dsq, how could i have a quote and a link and an explaination for the frame problem if i HADNT looked it up? its sort of a "if im wearing a tshirt" i dont need to tell you i went and got a tshirt because you can see that there is a tshirt. One of those "fill in the blanks" things. If im pointing at research and the eventual solution to the frame theory, chances are i looked it up and it didnt magically appear in the thread as i was typing.

I agree with Archie 100% on Space Above and Beyond. That show was awesome and having R. Lee Ermey (Sergeant Hartman in Full Metal Jacket) as Sgt. Major Frank Bougus as the Drill Sergeant was just to good to be true. Too bad Fox cancelled the show and I don't think they'll ever officially release it on DVD I'm just a lucky bastard for having all the 24 episodes on my HD (about 350 megs for each episode).
best episode was Butts. and his goddam pancakes. I still wonder about the symbolism of the last shot. But the Chiggy von Richtofen episode where Colonel McQueen toasts the Chig ace was truly superb, and remains for me the series' finest moment. I cheered when he blew the Chig's ass out of space!
final episode was abig disappointment and showed signs of being rushed and trying to hook a cliffhanger (but not q getting it because of the crammed storyline by this point) I felt the whole series had great promise but missed due to uninspired scripts and some weak acting, Nathan esp being imo a very poor lead and the story of him and Kylen Selena just didnt ring true. where it was strong it worked very well, for example Cooper Hawkes could carry an episode by himself, namely the Spec Ops one, and his character really deserved more exposure right from the start.
I enjoyed it first time round, in the main, but second time it looked very weak in places and I'm not surprised it got canned, but there was certainly enough story for several more episodes. And that shows rather obviously in the final episode.

yeah, butts was cool. I never really liked the episodes with the androids in them, i thought they were a bit weakter than the rest, although i was liking the political goings-on in the background that were starting to develop, i think that over time, the show would have ironed out its lamer points and become great tv, its a shame that you really need to grab the audience at "hello" if you're going to stick around, and galactica just does that.
I'd still love to get my hands on the S:AaB dvd box set.

ok my two cents worth:
battle star galatica: I was around for the first run and thinks it still holds up to modern sc-fi ( even thou it was over-cheesy ) and even thou I have only seen the pilot mini-series( I dont have cable tv, I dont watch enough to warent the cost) I was greatly impressed with what I saw ( the little girl still makes me cring).
star trek enterprise: I agree that paramount lost the series after, what the first season of tng?
space above ann beyond: great show, I loved the fact that it was a ww2 sci-fi show( I laughed the entire time the episode were they show the big guns on the carrier fireing , too cheesy)
SG1: another great show, yes the caracters have not grown one iota sice season 1 ( and you think there would be some growth after danyel died and came back)
But the best series ever ( in my opion ) was babalon 5. 96% solid script writing, an story arc that lasted four seasons, caracters that realy grew as the series went on,and even thou most of season 5 was a thrown toghether mess it was still better then all of the entire run of DS9. and how they ened the series made me cry. the movies left something to be desired but a few of them wernt too bad, not great but not bad .
Blessed Be to all those that still dream of the flight to the stars.

no you dont have to go down that route. Your just saying that to rattle some chaines. If you liked ds9 better( why I dont know...or care) then good for you , you are welcomed to your opion, I dont agree but that to does not matter.
