Battlestar Galactica

Here in the US, the SciFi television channel has premiered their new series, a remake of the origional Battlestar Galactica series, picking up after last year's miniseries. I am rather impressed with it, but like most other remakes, it lacks (IMO) some of the classic finesse and mystique that only comes with a 1980's tv show :-) Has anyone else seen this? Comments, opinions anyone?

If it is the one with the female Starbuck, I won't be watching it. That was a perversion of the original.

it rocks, i love the battles, mostly due to the camera work.

I'll give it a try when it comes on Aus. television. It has been so long since I have seen the original series that I can only remember the name .

The first series has almost finished over here in the UK...and I can tell you now...it rocks Its excellent to see a Sci-fi with a decent script and good acting, quite refreshing in fact. It doesn't at all rely on sfx, but when they're needed, they're very well done.

I wasn't sure how I was going to take to the female starbuck, but imho she equals if not betters Mr Benedict.

Love it. love it. love it.

Didn't we already have a couple of threads about this nice sci-fi series? Oh well...

UK got the rights to BSG, and I appreciate the one there that has been putting the files on P2P networks so I can see it as well

I enjoy it, but never saw the origional therefore cant base it off of anything in the past... The series gets really good, we won't give too much spoilers like half the fleet gets whiped out or anything

j/k

The acting is done (for the most part) very well... though it seems odd that the pilot's real names have been changed to something more reasonable... Also (and maybe this will be explained later), the random cuts to the scientist guy talking with the female Cylon that is in his head or something... it just seems weird. I would appreciate a bit more shooting and less blab from him. The redesigned ships are pretty awesome, though if they can all 'jump' places, why don't they just go really really far away...? I suppose then you wouldn't have a tv show. In the old series they were always worried about fuel, but perhaps not now. Additionally, there was an episode in the old series where the fleet ran across a second battlestar, the Pegasus, which they eventually split up with (I think). It will be interesting to see if that is worked into this new plot. It would make a good FL mod though methinks :-)

Yeah I saw some of it yesterday. It seemed cool with pretty good acting and some cool ships. I havent seen the version from the 80's though.

They are worried about fuel... Didn't you see the episode a couple of weeks ago? They had to fight a large Cylon base to get a load of fuel. Really nice battle there!

I didn't see any such episode... seeing as how the new series premeired a few days ago here in the US.

sirius is right - you're about 12 episodes behind us over there. Everything is explained as the series progresses.

Just seen part 1 of the 2 part season finale - how much did that rock??!! I just can't imagine how this series is going to end...
