Age of Empires III coverage *warning graphics load time on d
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

AOE is simply a staggeringly inferior version of C&C. The resource management is the most ridiculous I've ever seen in a game, and the combat is boring as hell.
Fortunately, I got Haegemonia: Legions of Iron and Red Alert 2 afterward, otherwise I'd still be cringing at the thought of playing a RTS today.

Personaly i prefer swords, bows, maces, etc to guns and missiles. I think it would be a good idea AoE i mean freelancer will evantualy follow stalancer and have only a few people loyely playing it but AoE is a strong serias that a lot of people enjoy.
i guess the total war series is more realistic but AoE is simple. sure i prefer total war but some people like the abilaty to build six knights, six arches, six swordsmen and a trebuechet then destroy an enamy base.
I dont take money only girl giggles- Thumb Wars

Never played AoE and have played lots of C&C. From what I've seen, AoE would probably make the better game. C&C isn't much fun past the single player campaign (which is imo quite mediocre compared to some), and the levels etc lack much uniqueness. I for one found Starcraft much more entertaining than C&C, especially since Starcraft was actually difficult . Anyway, AoE looks like it will be a good game should I ever decide to try it. The graphics are amazing (especially for a RTS game) and it seems much more dynamic than C&C, not to mention, apparently mod friendly
Wow, just realized wolfy used the word dynamic too! I had no idea he knew any 3 syllable words

I just don't see how anyone can be amused for long periods of time with these types of games. Sure, Rome TW will get boring after a while for me, but atleast strategy changes with every turn one does. One will never really know what the computer is going to do in this game, and the tactics on the battlefield are extensive. Unlike the C&C/AoE games where you build a base, kick A$$, build a base, kick A$$, it just gets boring. Although this is just one gamers opinion. But I have played all C&C games as well as all editions of AoE, starcraft, warcraft (except WoW). Maybe I just have Add and cant stand anything that doesn't move that I can't personally shoot....

@Parabolix - Hehe! Exact opposite for me. Played AoE but not C&C. Liked AoE but the real time nature of it makes me itchy and sometimes irritable. AoE is like a real time Civilization.
@Sirius - I'm just the opposite. Firing at somebody in the myriad of RTS games out there is extremely boring for me. So I am a soldier/alien/civilian/police/gangsta shooting a gun/shotgun/alien death ray/gatling gun/pistol/rocket launcher. Hmmm. I like to build something and have something to show for playing the game. To each his own.
Now you may ask why am I playing FL when it is similar to RTS games? Good question. I played nearly every game (Wing Commander I, WCII, WC Academy, Privateer I, PII but not Starlancer) and thus I am still interested in the series and genre with FL. Also I have "built" my server which has attracted it's own community. Thus my need for "building" is fulfilled with my servers.
Er, the topic of the forum. Yes, TLR should cover AoEIII.
