MS Anti-Spyware Free Beta
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Interesting, but the fact that it doesn't detect third-party cookies is pretty pathetic. "Tracking" cookies are one of the oldest forms of spyware, and should be deleted ASAP. I would have expected MS to have added that capability by now *shakes head*.

To an extent, you can trust people here.
Viator, if he offered to send you a copy (i am assuming free?) would most probably send a legit copy, and they are pretty easy to tell from burnt copies (i mean, come on! even the microsoft Licensing CDs have an infinatly intricate pattern on them!). thus eliminating the Legitimisation issue.
Anyway, anyone who relies on a single anti-intrusion system is a fool. my personal computer has a total of 3 anti-spyware scanners (will be 4 with this new addition) 2 firewalls, and ARP table scanner, password security analyst software, and an anti-virus system voted in the top 10. im also attempting to acquire a WEP security analyst card for wireless. oh, and the GRC tool IDserve.exe
@boscoe: it might be an idea to set the wireless network to only allow connections from known MAC addresses. WEP cracking, from what ive heard, is fairly easy with some programming knowledge and a Wireless card with a 'Monitor Mode' command. I have a site bookmarked that is currently working on a windows WEP craking program.

Tell you what, I reinstalled Spybot - as the 'beta scanner' is crap! It picked up NOTHING at all. Ran spybot, and it picked up no less than 8 different pieces of spyware or tracker.
As of right now, MS Spyware Beta gets my personal seal of approval to join the ranks of great things - such as:
The Lead Lined Parachute
Chocolate Fireguard
Condom machine in the vatican!

Well, I wouldn't disregard MS's anti-spyware program to be totally useless. To be fair, it does pick up spyware components that Adaware/Spybot can't find. And to be fair again, Adaware/Spybot can find things that MS can't.
In short, I have to agree with Arania. There is no way that anyone can depend on just one tool for their Internet security/repair purposes.
Of course, the best way to prevent all these problems in the first place is to practice safe surfing.

First of all thanks for the link on behalf of my girlfriend. Her laptop runs XP korean version; she had some difficulties the other day downloading her e-mails. When I tried to help her (can you imagine: i needed her help for translation to find 'properties' and things like that - we had muuuch fun) i got suspicious because this comp was behaving strangely. Anyway I installed this MS-Beta and run it: it found 187 (ONE-EIGHT-SEVEN) critical items, most of them "severe". Anybody more ?
After running three times this program all spyware, trojans etc. have been removed now (hopefully).
Now for my question: I ran the software on my (private) comp (it has NO internet connection and will never have it - no surprise it found only one critical item, a non-installed version of Morpheus I kept in a back-up-file of my laptop.
But I could not find out IF and if yes HOW I can use this program to scan the network.
My laptop runs W98 and that's why I can't run the tool on it - so I wanted the tool to clean the laptop (Of course the network settings are correct, filesharing allowed etc. Norton running on laptop can scan XP-system without problem)
Anybody can help me on this ?
PS: I know you want to know how come my girlfriend has so much spyware and other crap on her computer. That's what I would like to know too
I don't care a beep beep about my rank
