I don't trust them. They look suspicious and they'll probably use my e-mails for some evil purpose. I don't care about targeted ads. I'm going to stay loyal to Google and to Gmail.

Loyalty to Gmail? Hmph!

Post Mon Dec 13, 2004 1:18 am

Where was that link about the nasty Gmail.....loyal to it should be a word you use in the most loose term possible!

I fear that constant worries about things highlighted by people is starting to erode into my faith in humans as a species in general!

We have been asked why we would do such a thing. The answer is simple to help people store large amounts of information in a safe and secure environment.

We live in a world where natural and un-natural events take place, that can destroy homes or offices, when that happens many people loose all of their family pictures, their furnishings, office equipment and more.

We decided that Hriders.com should do something more than just provide a place to receive large quantities of emails. What we have done is provide our members with a place to store their family pictures or home videos as well as store pictures of their home or office furnishings, in case something might be lost to an unexpected event.

Homes burn, earthquakes happen, floods and un-natural events take place all the time, and all to often we hear people say, well at least I survived but I lost everything, my family pictures are gone, I did not plan on this ever happening to me so I did not take videos or pictures of my belongs for the insurance company to prove to them that I had a music collection that I have had for over 20 years, or a $10,000 home theater system or 5 computers.

okay..... so it seems like the hellacious riders have felt that all their members will eventually come across some lifethreatening situation whereby their homes are devastated. tragic really. but if they want to, all the better for the public

Our servers are housed in an environmentally safe solar powered site run

hm..........

Somehow this doesn't sound reliable at all ... I mean, what provider would advertize their services this way? Not serious, I'd say. (An Eskie-style headshaking should be appropriate here, but I don't want to be sued for copyright piracy )

My guess would be that they dont want to work in real numbers...or whatever you call numbers with decimal points

Post Mon Dec 13, 2004 11:29 am

@ Wolfy: Technically that is 1TB:

1 Meg is actually 1024 KB
1 Gig is acually 1024 MB
1 TB is actually 1024 GB

1024 * 1024 * 1024 = 1073741824KB

Divide it by 1000000 = 1074 (approx)

@Chips....you mean you still trust humanity?

Sadly enough, I grew up in a 'sheltered' environment. I lived in a small, quiet village - where I knew 80% of the population, mainly by being their paper boy, pools man (gambling, not swimming), or barman at the pub. Even the ones you don't know are greeted with a friendly 'hello' as you walk past them. Everyone greets everyone! I remember when I was 14, I chopped 2 tons of logs for an old man who lived halfway down the village. I didn't get paid for it....we drove past and saw him sweating in the mid day sun. My mother asked if I would help him out (didn't know him), and I did - gladly. That was the sort of place I lived in. Never locked doors, was never lied too, never knew what corruption was, and deviance was a word unknown

Since leaving the village to live in the city, I have steadily come to the point in the past two years, where I don't really trust anyone. I never used to believe that anyone would purposefully rip someone else off, spy on them, or wish them ill will. I certainly didn't know what crime was at all - we never had any!
I really did believe everyone was a good person, and no-one was selfish etc, and I have rubbished peoples claims as to bad things - not wishing to believe that others don't care about well being of people etc. I was really trusting in people, and its a sad fact that people like me turn into people who doubt anything and everything if I cannot clearly see a motive.....

Its a sad fact in all honesty.....

Interesting...I live in a very small town where everyone knows everyone. Its horrible. We always say... you can read what you will do tomorrow in yesterday's paper.
The people here loves a gossip story...if they dont have anything about you they can gossip about they make something up.
Here everyone gets as much as he can for himself and stuff the rest.
Most of the time you cant even trust your own friends.
oh well...

my comment was more of a joke which was partly serious...

Chips, does your post mean you had died before and later cast out of heaven back to the sinful Earth? I mean, I can hardly believe such places exist at all.
