20 Questions- an experiment in AI

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

@corsair - thats my point entirely. True AI would have worked out the very simple equation....

My answer is A, His Answer is B....B is my master and everything he tells me is true....therefore I am WRONG.

<output> excuse me master, but I appear to be wrong....please tell me why </output>

The only way to learn is by trusting someone elses opinion. eg. at an early age a child trusts his parents to teach him correctly. Later on he trusts his teachers. After that he trusts his own judgement to choose who to believe.

I've studied AI and neural networks on a grand scale, trust me when I say that this is not a true representation of AI because it cannot learn outside of its original programming.

Unless of course, its learning and not telling us so....which is a possibility.

I tried "clock." Many of my answers were "depends" instead of yes or no.

As in, is it made of glass, is it made of plastic, etc. The "logic" challenged my answers when I said "depends" and told me the correct answer was a yes, usually.

Which points back to what Grom described. Someone else answered ahead of me on the clock question but was far more rigid in what makes up a clock. Based upon that more rigid template, my answers were "wrong-ish".

I gotta agree with Nick, although this thing does learn from random Q&A's it is not intelligent, it just uses the process of elimination using the reponses of previous Q&A's. It does not actually think at all.

I can conclusivley say that the program is not any sort of advanced AI, because it is quite lacking in any sort of higher Logic...

Post Tue Nov 09, 2004 9:00 am

it's a database with objects and linked to it are characteristics which do not apply to it.
So if you're answering no to everything it should come up with the correct answer

There's nothing wrong with missiles
