King Diamond anyone?

Since it is fast approaching Halloween, I thought I would see if there are any King fans. Specifically his thematic albums. Mercyful Fate is good But I really dig the stories that just King puts out. Anyone else? Can anyone suggest a Good one. Are there any other bands that do a "story" thru the album (besides Pink Floyd and the WHO both rox BTW) Hopefully I will get to to go to a concert before he hangs it up

hmmm to clarify then. King Diamond is the front man to a black metal band called Mercyful Fate...songs full of occulty and demons etc etc. King has also went on his own to produce many albums . Most of these albums tell a single story from beginning to end usually horror or occult. He uses makeup and theatrics during concert and acts out the stories on stage.

yuk. how dreadfully cliched. poor mans Marilyn Manson, looks like to me (not that I'm a fan of MM either but i did enjoy his cover of tainted Love)

but as to "story" bands i think jax is maybe talking about concept albums, of which there's lots. Yes, Genesis, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, etc all did prog-rock concept albums, Led Zep to some extent I suppose, even as late as the mid 80s the Cult were doing sort of a concept album, although they only got one really good song out of (She Sells Sanctuary) (which is brilliant) You could even argue that U2s Achtung Baby! was a sort of story-telling concept album, that's what all that ZooTV malarkey was all about. dont think it worked myself.

sorry jax I doubt I'll be queuing up for erm Baron Samedi whatever his name is, I don''t like all that occult stuff. I think its all rather "wrong"

Taw, how the hell can you even try to discuss concept albums meaningfully without mentioning Ziggy Stardust? C'mon, I expected better.
