Need help with a project of some sort *Updated*

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Need help with a project of some sort *Updated*

Ok I need your help/opinions/sugestions/resourcefulness.

***Update***

It's heading toward a story, go figure

Anyway, I've made my first choice in (cap)ship and squad names.

1st choice USA Capship names:

The Elemental
The Serenity
The Dominance
The Justice
The Resourceful
The Brotherhood
The Redemption
The Resistance
The Courageous
The Relentless
The Valiant
The Retribution
The Orion

Not sure which of these I'll eventually use, but for now these are on the top of my list. I've scrapped the Mythological names for now. They might return, but for now I wouldn't count on it.

---------------

1st pick USA Squadron names:

Ghosts
Grenadiers (torp/bomber squad)
Argonauts
Myrmidons
(White) Knights
Harriers
Space Eagles
Space Hounds/Dogs
Steel Gladiators
HellJumpers

I still need more of these.

----------

1st choice USA Fighter names:

Scarab
Wasp
Scorpion
Mosquito
Condor
Harrier
Buzzard
Shark
Orca
Leviathan
Man-O'-War
Manta
Pioneer
Jaguar
Gargoyle
Orion
Ceberus
Daedelus
Hurricane
Guardian
Wyvern
Tempest
Hunter
Buccaneer
Shrike

More then enough here

Thanks to everyone who replied. Your help is much apreciated. It might not seem like I care about your ideas, but I actually do. So keep posting because there's always something I can use. Or at least you're giving me inspiration

Things to name in the future I might need your help with:

Characters (later)
Bases
systems (Maybe not)
Enemy (later)

Updates will follow

Please don't spam this thread. Also keep rants out of here. I don't wanna hear anything about any resemblance to any space-sim/sci-fi thing, because I'm mostly aware of it.

Ooooh. Esqy's a capship

>>>>>>Capships

I think The "Royal" is more appropriate than "Royalty" in which case you also could add the Imperial.

But as Helty says, capship naming usually follows a thematic thread. Obv., the US capships (battlewagons anyway) were named after States of the Union.

Why not Roman Gods? Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Mars, etc.? Definitely, Norse gods are good too, Wotan or Odin, Thor. Don't know if you want to name a capship Loki although it has a certain intriguing twist to it. Probably a stealth capship for starters.

Egyptian Gods: Ra, Hathor, Seth, Amon

{bugs}
Scarab
Wasp
Yellow Jacket
Scorpion
Mosquito
Gnat
The Tick
Spider
Black Widow

{birds}
Condor
Osprey
Harrier
Blue Jay
Buzzard
Vulture
Ibis
Albatross

{marine life}
Shark
Mako
Orca
Leviathan
Man-O'-War
Nautilus
Manta
Devil Fish
Dolphin

Etc.

You could probably go to an online thesaurus and type in generalities like battleship or fighter to get a few names.

Or just do what your doing and steal more names from epic characters. The Aeneas, The Achilles, The Oberon, Sparta Squadron, Steel Gladiators, etc.

My advice would be to sit down a while and let your mind just run off with reckless abandon and write down every idea you get.

I'd go for mythological names personally; as I do whenever I can.

Eg.

Gorgon
Titan
Hades
Garm

etc.

Hmm, "The Esquilax"... I like the sound of that!

Post Fri Jul 09, 2004 9:32 pm

Some Greek ones :

The Kronos (Titan of Time)
The Oranos (Father of the Titans)
The Gaia (Pretty obvious)
The Helios (Titan of the Sun)
The Atlas (Titan of Daring)

Just some to use, got the idea from esq's suggestion of "Titans", but more specific. These are all (supposedly) real Greek Titans.

Leviathan?

Post Fri Jul 09, 2004 10:40 pm

In the style of Nickless's original post...

The Impervious
The Redemption

There are more like that I'm sure but I'm too tired

Post Fri Jul 09, 2004 11:22 pm

um, Viator, Does "Total Annihilation" mean anything to you.

@esq: Aranic timeships are named after mythological creatures, chaemera, pegasus, etc... esquilax happenes to come under that category... even if the crew are ridiculed about esquilaxatives

Post Sat Jul 10, 2004 12:25 am

jeez those are original

Post Sat Jul 10, 2004 12:31 am

The Tarantula
BoomBoom (I like it ok )
The explosion

Ok it seems like I'm not too good with stuff like this, what did you have in mind for character names? Maybe I can be more helpfull there

Get nice and drunk, then you'll be thinking up names like it's going out of style. It helps if you are in utter darkness at the time.
