I curse the day they invented those things. I had the old steel bands. The regular dentist never saw anything wrong in the 4 , yes 4, years I was stuck with them, but after getting them off, he "found" 21 cavities which has led to $14,000.00 worth of crowns and root canals. And my jaw is shrinking due to hereditary and the teethe overlap a little. All that pain and money because of braces. Before braces, not one cavity, ever.

Hope you have better luck than I did.

Stupid, damn dentists! They cause nothing but pain and misery. I had one actually tell me that I need to get my wisdom teeth out, because they're coming in sideways. That was about 5 years ago. I haven't had a problem. I don't expect I ever will, either.

I had the same fd, absolute mountain of dental work after getting them off. Course I was a lazy sod who never put to much effort into cleaning them, to much bloody effort if your ask me. Anyway congrats Vi, the most awesome experience of braces is getting them off, you can't stop running your tounge across your teeth for weeks after. It's almost erotic it's so good.

I've never had any problems with my teeth *rubs it in* .

We're all happy for you Vi. Hmm, didn't I read an article last year that stated that braces do more harm than good? Hmm.

Have fun Viator, its a great feeling to not have those things on your mouth any more. For the first week you'll think its the oddest feeling in the world, but then after that you wont see how you every made it so long with the things on there.

It's going to hurt for at least a week though, just grit your teeth and bear it.
......Actually, on second thoughts, avoid gritting your teeth altogether!

Avoid things like tea and fizzy drinks and brush at least twice a day and nothing should go wrong when they come off. (Some guys who don't brush well enough get permanent ring shaped stains on the front of each tooth )

pfft taw, you're close to becoming the second fleet admiral ever on tlr....

I had braces for a few years as a kid. I feel your pain. I've hated dentists ever since....hated with a passion.

It feels a bit odd when you have them taken off...it takes a while to adjust to not having them. Also you may find yourself over-pronouncing things because you previously subconsciously learnt to compensate for speech problems, but this will only last a couple of hours.

Congrats. Now just think of all those loverrrrly ladies you'll be attracting

Never had any braces and not looking forward to having them - especially after what I've heard here
