Esq, firefox has a connection to netscape, and it does crash too. I have had 2 crashes and get a pop-up from netscape to fix it. I will still use it for now. Its .90 vers.

opera 7.50 for me if you please, i have it on my
laptop too (both registered to me)

i still use IE6 for downloading from time to time,
because opera sometimes has this problem downloading
.zip files.

yeh I've noticed that too.

Mozzilla or however its spelt. However I use IE as my FTP access...simply cause it works and its, well, free. Its not flash or full of features, but i don't need it to be. One thing i found with many many FTP software things is that they had problems uploading multiple directories with subdirectories and stuff. It would cut out on graphical images, have problems sorting things out. For some reason they ALL crashed when i did that? Gawd knows why

However, IE has never given me this problem - so thats all i use it for.....but i wouldn't dream of surfing with it - i just don't like it to be honest.

I agree with that, I used to use a variety of different FTP products, nowadays I just use IE or a standard windows folder to do the job for me. Much much easier.

For all you people who hate pop-ups so much. Why don't you get a firewall to stop them?

People have it all wrong these days, instead of discriminating and hating others for being black or ugly, we should practise fairness and hate every living thing equally.

Because firewalls, Noton, does not stop them all. Operamail opens in another screen as does some other sites I use, so i have to have some popups.

The only problem with Firefox is that while it is slightly faster than Moz., it is also more simplistic. I dislike the dumbed-down setup options, and I look forward to trying Moz 1.7 when it is released.

A combination of Firefox and ZA allow me to avoid any and all unrequested pop-ups *rubs it in* .

Esq, does firefox seem a little slower loading than IE to you? Mine seems to slow down a bit, unless I have rebooted my computer. After its up, a second screen is a little faster.

Firefox is a little slower to load yes, but not by much. With Moz there is an option to load the program faster by keeping the browser resident in the memory. This which allows it to load really quickly.

How much differnt is Moz 1.7 going to be than firefox?. They are made by the same group, arn't they?

I've used Nutscrape. To me, even it was better than IE but that was before the latest security and other changes to IE6 were made available.

FireFox may be slower in XP but in WMe, Firefox beats all other browsers I've tried hands down, including fully updated/patched/re-secured IE6.

Latest version of IE6, I admit, is much more stable than all prior iterations so that it I am comfortable with it as a cruiser but I don't use it for anything other than Windows and Office Update.

Firefox is sooooo much faster than everything else I've tried I could not believe it. I don't mind the dumbing down very much because I much prefer a simplified interface with fewer menu options to contend with.

@Fd: I've not crashed at all in FireFox. But I've only been using it now for about 3 days.

Final - Firefox is based upon the Moz source code, as is Opera and Netscape. Firefox has different features, and is essentially a different product, albeit one that is VERY similar to Moz.

By the way, Moz 1.7 was released last night or possibly before. I think I'll wait though; it would take me too long to download it .
