This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

You've gotta be careful, it's not just the IT industry that has it's share of backstabbing bastards. Any field you want to work in, you're gonna find them. And chances are, they're high up on the totem pole. People with authority tend to abuse their power. And they can get away with it. I live in a right-to-work, right-to-fire state. Utah. It happens here everyday. I work in the fast food industry, and I know people who've been screwed over by their bosses. I used to be optimistic. But now, I'm more cynical about the world around than I have ever been.

IT is bloody hard work, not least because you're always subservient to people who haven't got a bloody clue. I have to explain things to my directors in baby-talk, sometimes I don't even bother, I just tell them to take my word for it cos the explanation is too involved and they wouldnt understand it anyway. My CEO tries to understand but then he has the luxury of having sod-all else to do all day.

Unf hard work, dedication, and ability mean nothing. Your face has to fit and you have to have a ruthless talent for self-promotion. Me and my gaffer spend all day outmaneouvring each other and setting each other up. I hope he's a had a lovely time while I've been off (actually he's done bugger all and there's a friggin mountain of work that he hasn't done because he's sh*te compared to me)

ho-hum, you sure you want to remain one of us, Esq? it doesn't get any better you know..

Mee - Aye 'tis true. I've been burnt by more than one company in the past. Bastards .

Taw - I'm still looking into jobs in Journalism, Editing, or Publishing, but IT will do for now. I just have to be patient. Good news though, I am about to dabble in the "dark side" of IT. Just wait and we'll see what happens...

I would've quit anyway, if it had've been me. I can't stand backstabbing in a department. Makes for a crap, non productive working environment and it's a sure fire sign of sh*t management. Problem is that way to many managers take a position of power rather than one of responsibility.

@mustang: You know what they: "What goes around, comes around." I have a particularly bad habit of doing unto others after what they have done unto me.

last job i had was i worked half an hour in a chicken shop (without getting paid) and left infuriated at the owner for letting me work and then screwing me around with shifts.

but my slave labour experience was on work experience.
the one thing i learned from that was that i will never work in an office again. ever.
my fingers were covered in band-aids from the paper cuts. i had turned a nice shade of milky white. my neck bore marks from the tie. i did two weeks work and got paid $100AUD. i was harrased by managers, trated like a slave, and was always last to get to the coffee machine, and by the time i got to it i needed it. the politics were vicious, one side v another v management.
that is why i won't work in a freight forwading office. and i didnt even know what i was doing! why i had to enter invoice 10kd0020kd into database 2293isis!

yeach... the only time id work in an office is if i was working for a games developer. now that would be fun

Esq, is there one that you could Tele-commte to? that would mean you could work anywhere and still be where you live. The US, you can di this only a small percent of the time. It depends on the job, but is an idea.

Taw - Nobody said that .

Vi - Don't get me started on work experience! My tenure at a local newspaper wasn't too bad actually, but I was only paid $5 a day for ten days (two weeks). Cheap bastards.

Final - A job of that nature would be nice, but I haven't seen any!
