Instaling a new vid card...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Instaling a new vid card...

Yup I finaly got it (radeon 9800 pro)

Anyway, now the thing is as I started reading the manual it says I need to instal AGP Drivers for non-Intel Chipset Based Motherborads.

Now I am not sure which kind of motherboard I got, so anybody know a way to check this? It does not say in the manual....

that's far too complicated.

r-click on My Computer, go to properties>hardware>device manager, expand system devices, and you'll see a whole clump of stuff near the top that will say Via, or SiS, or some other chip mfrs name, and say if it's PCI-AGP controller or Bus Controller, stuff like that. If that Raddy setup is asking you for that, you'd better say yes. Are you sure it's asking you to do that or is it just a general pre-installation question?

..sweetness, sweetness, I was only joking when I said I'd like to smash every tooth in your head..

I found it

Everything is instaled and I can finaly experience best PC gaming so far

Good. However I hope that you have a proper 9800 Pro. There are a bunch of cheap ones around with 128-bit memory interfaces, instead of 256-bit, and they underperform badly from all reports. Just thought I'd mention it .

damn esq...now u tell me

I got 9800 pro 128mb :/ for $250...

but oh well...at least its better than my last one

Post Sun Jun 06, 2004 6:46 pm

Hey, if you don't know to come to the techs around here before buying hardware then I have no sympathy for you . $250? US I assume. Hmm, it could be one of the cut-down versions, but I'm not sure.

Post Sun Jun 06, 2004 6:55 pm

asked for help long time ago

vid card

Well everyone said 9800 pro, and as 128 is cheaper and not too much defference between 128 and 256 (except amount of mb's ). So I went for cheaper one (saved like 200 dollars )

Well the card is good, Rise of Nations runs smooth as hell....but hopefuly during the summer overheating wont be an issue

O BTW, just to let ya know...I used this program to fin info about my motherboard

here

its great...it even gives the current temperature of your board

I remember your thread, but I am not referring to the amount of RAM, but the size of the memory interface. You want 256-bit, not 128-bit. If you are curious, then get the model no. and investigate.

Post Sun Jun 06, 2004 8:15 pm

I'm running that same one but with the 256 and its loads better then my last one. For most of your games the 128 should do fine but if you really want some power and know your not going to have a problem, you should of spent some extra money and went for the 256.

Post Sun Jun 06, 2004 8:17 pm

Ugh, be specific man! Are you referring to a 256-bit memory interface, or 256MB of video RAM? There is a world of difference people!

lol...oh well I guess I will just to live with what I got right now :/
