Big box or Small box?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I actually spoke to a guy who owns an EB franchise and he said the reason for the big box is that the consumer feel that the bigger the box, the better the value. How much truth there is in that I have no idea, but that's wht he said.
Personally I like the DVD cases, sturdy and easy to keep your CD's and relevant manuals together. The big boxes are just a waste of cardboard and entirely pointless + jewel cases are fragile bits of crap.

One of the reasons why I like big boxes, is that they dont get lost so easily, but we take out the CD's so I'm consantly searching in anyway

far cry is on a dvd rom, and comes in a dvd like box, hows that for irony?

The thing with the jewel cases, is they can be replaced real easy and cheaply.

The DVD-boxes which the games are stored in nowadays are indeed easier to store and stuff but I'm a favourite of a big, cardboard box
It just looks cool Just watch the Half-Life 2 trailer (the short one) and you'll know what I mean

But the DVD-boxes are easier to store for the retailers. Those little things are much handier to put in the shop, instead of 5 boxes, we can now store 10 or 15 little buggers.

They are even experimenting with smaller DVD-boxes (only for movies though). They are twice as thin as the normal DVD-cases. Looks pretty slick

I definitely like smaller boxes. As mentioned before, they're easier to store. Unfortunately that doesn't leave much room for an instruction manual, though. Of course, not many games COME with a 150 page manual.

And those that do, Mee? Like "Klingon Academy"? No, they throw a PDF version of the manuals on the CDs now; even if they have one included in the box. I assume that this is to cut down on production costs when downsizing the boxes or releasing the the software as a "budget game", ie. a tiny box with no manual.

A unique question. Who saves the boxes you buy the games in anyway? If it came in sleeve, I put it in a carrier that holds 50 loose CD's. If it came in a Jewel case, its on a rack, if in DVD case, it gets stood on end on the book case. Big or little, the boxes get tossed.

my boxes never got tossed. i keep everything. you never know there might be another war, then you'll be grateful for a spare box - for something. Boxes always come in useful.

lol taw. People ask me why I save the boxes and I dun really know why, I guess so that everything I get with a game stays with the game. Most people hate game manuals though and thats cool but I actually really like looking through game manuals every now and then. When I have nothing to do ill grab the manual to some MMORPG (those tend to be huge) and look around a bit. The little boxes dont lack manuals either though. I mean Star Wars Galaxies, Neverwinter Nights, and Final Fantasy XII all have HUGE manuals and their still in small boxes. The good thing is they do have some box size leniency, if they need to they can make the box a inch or two thicker.

I keep my boxes, as I like the box art (most of the time), anfd they are a good place to keep my forty+ manuals. Still, I get rid of one or two when I need to fit more in.

I still have a bunch of my old boxes. I have them organized on the top of my shelf, next to my desk.

I could not imagine keeping all of mine. I have over 30 games, and all those boxes would cutter up the place worse than it already is. That and the extra boxes from buying replacement games when the disks were damaged beyond use.
