Personas

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Esq is asking for a rather more personal reason, i think.
I've never really considered that. Hmm... No, I don't believe that I created this topic for any personal reason. I think that you're reading too much into things again . If you have any theories though... Besides, I study people as well; especially in social situations. I find it fascinating, as I am such a private person myself. Remember, it took nearly six months before I could even inform you guys of my real name.

The thing is, that a number of people have stated that they are more overt and social here on TLR than in real life. I imagine that this is due to the anonymity that possessing an online persona provides. I myself, am not the most social type and, as I have said before, if we were all together at a party, I'd be in a corner with a soft drink observing the social interplay.

Indy - I don't recall ever referring to myself as "neurotic". "Eccentric" or "idiosyncratic", yes . A Comedian? I've been called many things over the years, but that's a new one .

Loc - I'm pleased to hear that you enjoy my threads; plenty more to come!

ff - "Mini SS"; that' was great .

And thanks to everyone who's posted. It's not easy revealing anything personal about yourself. Believe me, I know .

Im exactly the same in real life. I'm often ending conversations by placing a large padlock around the neck of the speaker and saying *click*

i seem to be more open online, probably cos im surrounded by untrustworthy fools in real life. online im a bit of a fool with a decent message to spread. offline, im a fool who tries to help, but sometimes fails. but i keep trying, whether it be at life, love or trying to get a good rep with the corsairs.

i'd like to think im like i am in real life as well as online, but i know for a fact im alot shyer with new people in real life than i am online. im also a lot more bold. Its the anonimity provided by the interweb, you can say and act without fear of being judged on your appearance, just the content of your character.

I think Taw is shyer in real life than he is on here. a lot less ballsey but then i only met him once. Seemed more hesitant but that could have been cause i was talking non-stop for about 3 hours or something.

actually it might be that i was shedded out me face and incredibly tired and freezing meh b*llox off.

interesting that grom should say that about his work, because I'm far more aggressive at work than i am at home/socially as well, but that's because I hate my job and the dreadful people I have to put up with all day. As most of my posting on TLR is done either just before going to work, at work, or winding down from work, i dare say you people get the overspill of my frustrations and tension.

..you shut your mouth, how can you say, I go about things the wrong way..

I'm probably more of a pratt in real life. At least with a forum you can type out responses, read through what you've read, wonder why you were being such an arsehole in typing that and edit it so it's not nearly half as insulting.
IRL, I tend to spurt out whatever comes to mind and I have a somewhat disturbed sense of humour which means quite often that strangers find me strange and avoid me

@Esqy,

When you "revealed" that your name was Nick, you called yourself too neurotic to do it before having done so.

<Edit>

Or was it paranoid? I forget now.

I tend to be nicer online than in real life - because I take advantage of the errors people make in conversation to unleash my full insult potential, whereas that kind of speed and spontaneity is rarely achieved online.

Interesting. I guess that it comes down the ability to be known for your views, rather than for your appearance as Arcon said. I think that that is an important element, because without a physical presence, people are disassociated from any preconceptions, and form relationships based solely upon a person's speech (well typing ) and personality.

Indy - I said "paranoid", and believe me, it fits. Indeed, the family call me that all the time .

i'm more of a pain in the rear in person but i'm also the loaner type with a lot of enemys, on tlr well this is an hour of hang out, laugh and type

Me? I am who I am. A complete smartass. Here and everywhere else, especially at work.

I believe you Mee .

@Esq, what you said about physical presence rings very true.
Before I saw any pics of Arcon, I had a totally different mental picture of him, I obviously at least sub-consciously associate appearance with personality.
Equally, I know plenty of people who (after reading too many fairy tales or watching too many cartoons) have reckoned I am of sub-average intelligence purely because I'm big. The only thing that will give out any pre-conceptions online is your screen name as Taw pointed out.

I dare to say that no one of the TLR community behaves the same as in real life. For each social enviromnent we have different sorts of "masks". When you're hanging out with friends you're wearing a different mask then when you're at home or when you're posting here in the forums...

Maybe some masks don't differ that much from each other but when you examine you'r behaviour very closely, you'll find some differences.

This is my own idea, and not some psychiologist stuff
