Problem with STW, anybody got way to help?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

YAY! I just reinstalled...and guess what! there is no version 1.12 in the corner on main menu. This means that its back to original . And I think I found reason for the crash as well, during the install I just did at 43% game could not find the second disk (e:/ drive), and this is because during the partition deletion, I did not make d:/ drive so letter d got assigned to DVD drive (originally e). The game crashes mostly when there should be a ingame cinema (like one when your daimyo dies-this is when game crashes), and guess where the movies are...at the second disk. I might be wrong but changing the letter of drive to e should fix this . I cant say for sure, so I will tell ya what happened once I actually try it. I will have to do this tomorrow, as its 10pm and I am watching Sacramento kings play

Grrr...it still crashes, damn game! It keeps saying that I run out of vid memory , how the hell did it work before!

Anyway, upgrading my video card wont work, I read on total war forums and people say that game plays even worse on the best video card. What kind of crapy game is that now

Oh well, time to get rid of Shogun TW for once and for all

works fine for me, never had a problem with it. Have you contacted EA or Creative Assembly? On the face of it you should have no trouble playing this game, and it is well worth playing. I love it and I know Fear Factor virtually lives in it.

techy stuff..

check in your BIOS that you don't have shadowing enabled for your vidcard or anything else. Are these onboard graphics? get a real video card, nothing flash, and disable the onboard rubbish. Make sure your AGP aperture is set to 128mb as well. If vga palette snoop is enabled, disable it. Unless the video adapter is actually faulty, what's happening chum is that your adapter is addressing areas of memory that are being used/allocated to something else, you need to free up resources so that the adapter gets first call, if you will.

if you get stuck you know where i am. Believe me Shogun is well worth the effort!

..you shut your mouth, how can you say, I go about things the wrong way..

Leon, how big of a partition area are you installing it on? Reason is Virtual memory may be low.

Post Thu May 20, 2004 1:23 pm

if that was the case FD he'd be seeing other probs in other areas as the o/s wouldn't be able to pagefile properly. I don't think it's that although it's always worth having a check.

Its on C drive, 74.5GB of total space

Memory is 480MBs (512 originaly, 32 for vid card)

And only problem is whit the game :/

what install type are you using? are you running movies from the cd or have you done the full cinematic install to the hdd? and yes you've got shred graphics memory, it's onboard rubbish, that's part of your problem right there. Get a video card, a proper one.

Ugh, I had a feeling that it was an onboard video chip.

Hehe lol

Now thats weird. I just played Shogun for last five hours without even a single crash..everything was smooth. Lol WTF is happening

Ya, I need a new vid card. There are just too many games there that I cant play, especialy Rise of Nations. Man, but first I must get my parents to buy it....hey its my b day in 2 weeks...bwahahahaha time to go shopping , I am sure I can get them to buy one that way

Just checking back. In the five hours of playing, is it the original install, or is it patched. Just qurious for future reference.

I want to know that too. Also Leon, RON now has an expansion pack. It even has different campaigns such as one based upon the Cold War and one based upon Alexander the Great. I going to get it soon *rubs it in* .
