Eurovision - Who do you think will win?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

The best thing was when the turkish hosts wanted to talk to their correspondant in Istanbul and to show the crowds on the streets. Problem was, they didn't seem to have gotten the message that they were on air and the correspondant (a female one) was kinda picking her nose, what a funny sight

Well, Germany got the 8th place, Ukraine won and the voting was sooo boring as it was soooo predictable who was going to get the 12 points. For Example:

Country/points given/total points
Greece 10 110
Ukraine 105
Turkey 8 89
Serbia something 6 88
all the other countries

Have a guess? Yep, you're right, Ukraine obviously gets the 12 points...boring...

Also, Taw, nobody couldn't supposedly of cheated as they ALL had to Televote and it went through a commity (yeh, whatever)...

Your posts are SPAM . My posts are WISDOM SPEECHES .

it's cheating cos all the new little countries vote for each other and noone else.

Slovenia/Croatia/Bosnia/Serbia/Albania/Macedonia all voted for each other, along with Greece/Romania/Austria and of course Germany and Turkey (whoalways vote for each other anyway) Greece and Cyprus traditionally vote for each other.

andof course Sweden/Norway/Finland/Denmark/Iceland all chuck the points at each other.

The Blatic States, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus all voted for each other, Russia voted for Serbia as well simply because of their ethic kinship. It doesnt matter if its run by a committee, it just block voting and has nothing to dowith any songs quality, you could put a bag of potatoes on the stage and you'd still get douze points if all your mates vote for you just cos theyre your mates.

I don'tsee the point of even being in it anymore, it's total rubbish and a fix. the eventualwinner was at least entertaining, but Serbia nearly won and their song was utter crap (sorry Chet but it was pooh)

and how the hell did Israel ever get in? they aren't even in Europe!

every day is like Sunday, every day is silent and grey..

what about the russians they aren't in europe either and their song was also crap but at least they gave us some points

Post Sun May 16, 2004 9:24 am

well they're partly in Europe, at least. they gave us "some" points but not as many as they gave all their mates.

just got back from an extremely boozy eurovision weekend. my friends do it every year - we all throw in a quid and pull a country out of a hat, then we have to turn up in some kind of fancy dress related to that country and support them.

Really its just an excuse to get paralytic and listen to Terry Wogan taking the p*ss. Was difficult not to notice all of the politics this year though, even in the state I was in at the time. Its always political, but this year it was just crazy. Its definitely getting worse.

Anyway, I'm off to nurse my hangover see ya tomorrow

Its on SBS...tonight Esq Ah well you've missed it
Damn Griff; I'm so distraught . Actually, I was too busy watching "Best in Show" last night .

"Euorvision"? Bah! Who cares anyway? Bunch of nancy-boys prancing around lip-synching classic songs...

Damn! I'm channeling Taw again.

Eurovision is when all of the countries of europe get together for a night and demonstrate their lack of musical talent...in search for "The best song in europe".

In england its a source of ridicule...we usually choose the worst singer possible, tell them that they're great and send 'em out to europe like lambs to the slaughter. Then we organise parties and get slaughtered and take the p*ss out of the songs, aided by our sarcastic maestro commentator Mr Terry Wogan.

A fun night all in all

I can't even remember the last time we (UK) won, and the last song that's at least stayed in my mind is "Making Your MInd Up" by Bucks Fizz.

I bet you even Mary Hopkins or Abba couldn't win now, it's such a fix.

i agree, its so political. saying that though, the winner on saturday came as no surprise.

What do you mean "sorry"? I hate that guy and his stupid song. I was actually AFRAID that he'll win, so this was a relief...
And yes, it was a crappy contest, and yes, there were enourmus amounts of cheating and a surprise... We got 12 points from Croatia... I never saw that one coming.

Careful what you wish... You just might get it.

lol! not for a second did I think you'd like the awfulness, Chet, just didn't want you to think I was slagging Serbia off.

every day is like Sunday, every day is silent and grey..

Dah, Eurovision, banal pop. I prefer listening to music.
The funny thing is, if we weren't told where the singers come from, we would never be able to guess - everything's so alike (like unisex clothes, one size fits all, etc.). As i said, crappy po(o)p. Never had the nerve to watch this stuff to the end.

An idea came to my head and is now desperately searching for brain

Post Mon May 17, 2004 10:37 am

you don't get the humour in it then? do you really honestly think that any of us watch it for the music? lol.

I thought that it was about young people strutting their stuff singing campy "original" songs; you're saying it's not Grom? I'm so disillusioned...
