help/advice needed

sycho, I may be able to help you, but I need to know the platform that you will be hosting the chat room on.

PHP chatrooms are readily available, as are PHP based forums, but obviously they only work on Unix servers. Windows servers may be a little more difficult so you'll need to be looking at either an ASP based forum (probably the most efficient) or a Java or Flash based chatroom. The later two will be harder to implement unless you have prior Java or Flash knowledge. Whereas ASP versions tend to cost - unless you pick-up a really nasty freebie. Do you know what server(s) you are hosting on?

Well I dont want to work in PHP as i'm already doing my site in HTML and dont have time to learn PHP.
The main reason I wanted to use irc, was becus I wanted to write a bot for the project.
But I'll find out what server it is as soon as I can

Hey Grom,

PHP runs on practicly every OS out there.

if you want to run it on a windows OS, just install apatche, then download PHP.

(I have it on my XP machine

)

SW: If you download a good php chat room, there is no need to learn php at all, because it would include an admin control panel to edit settings/users from a standard web interface.
