wireless mouse

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Post Sat May 08, 2004 11:25 am

Dowload your drivers from driverguide, quicker than waiting.

Been thinking of getting one myself, just don't know if I want to part with the $69.99 that the one I like costs.

Wireless mouses are really annoying, because they get lost, just like TV remotes.

I finally had enough of my malfunctioning mouse - which i walloped on many an occasion, and opened it up to find out what was wrong.

To put it mildly - Taw woulda had a fit.

The ball was in fine condition - but i cleaned it anyway - HOWEVER, the little rollerbars that actually record the movement etc - those were CLOGGED - which isn't properly true, maybe JAMMED or RAMMED or CAKED with bits of tobacco, fluff, and gawd knows what else. I had to use a very small screwdriver (very very small - about the size of a tooth pic) to pry INTO the matted mass and peel it away. There was a large pile (for the amount of space it should have taken) or crap on the table afterwards. The mouse then worked perfectly . So a wire mouse that has no ball would be cool for me (sorry, don't trust this wireless rubbish - plus i am too tight to fork out for batteries etc.....put it this way - my mouse will be working for years as it has been for past 4 years (its off my old old comp) - but your techno gadgets will be dead before then (he hopes anyway!).

Strangely enough - same probs with keyboard till i took that apart and thoroughyl cleaned it - including removing ALL the keys and pads (which were hell to get back correctly). There musta been about 30 ciggies worth of bacci in there, along with around 5000 ciggies of ash . Keyboard worked after that

Chips the batteries u get with the mouse are rechargeable so ya don't have to fork out for new ones and they come with the mouse when you buy it.

Suppose batteries have come a long way since about '93 when i last used some.....(rechargable ones that is) - back then they had a finite lifespan of charges and stuff Cannot remember if it was 1000 or not. Anyways - until i can afford to buy the spangly new mouse and keyboard, i am going to sit here and bemoan that its not all its cracked up to be, not reliable etc etc - and basically a con. When i have the money, however, i will fork out and proudly display my wares for you all

"until i can afford to buy the spangly new mouse and keyboard,"

you called? I just so happen to have, brand-new unopened, a Microsoft Multimedia wired k/b and wired optical USB mouse with a ps/2 converter, which i'm willing to part with for an appropriate sum of money. Got a job lot when i netwroked the house up and had a couple left over, sold one.

Okay, first of all... Newer batteries do NOT have the forementioned 'memory' any more. You do kind of need to 'condition' them though, run them completely down then back up 4 times. Then recharge at will.

I recomend getting the IC3 Nimh batteries. They have a 2000mAh (long time), a QUICK recharge (15minutes) and last 4 times longer than most regular alkaline batteries. They are also good for 1000+ full recharges. I can last 2 weeks in my mouse, and about 3 weeks in my keyboard. (MX Duo).

The IC3's can be recharged in ANY recharger, and the recharger can recharge any type of battery. Only IC3's in IC3 chargers will charge in 15 minutes though.

I have the Rayovac brand. Little pricy, but will work out in my favor in the long run (as long as I dont loose em )

Indy and Xeno - There ARE batteries that do not have this "memory" problem, but far from all. I just thought I'd do the responsible thing and mention it .

I think the companies actually get rid of this before they go out. Ie charge and drain at the factory
