The sequel

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I have seen Yogimbo but not the other one, I will have to check it out.

Last Man Standing w/ Bruce Willis is set on the same story as Yogimbo, is it not?

Arcon's fave sequels (which surpassed the original):
- Empire Strikes Back (honesly taw, NO ONE refers to ANH as Ep 1, even the 77 folks because of the fecking huge EPISODE IV that starts the film...so just shutup)
- Godfather II
- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
- Aliens
- Batman Returns

"I've seen things you people wouldnt believe.
Attacked ships on fire off the shoulder of orion. Ive seen C-Beams glitter in the darkness at tannhauser gate.
All those moments, will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.
Time, to die."

actually young Arcon when it was originally shown there was no Ep4 title. that came in.. later, when Lucas realised he could con more money out of us with the promise of a prequel trilogy

I would like to point out that Lucas has not conned anyone out of any money whatsoever, its merely an expression!!!

I absoloutely disagree with the "con" statement - simply because it:

A) Never promised or had a money back garuntee to be better than the originals

I had read all the terrible reviews for the movie before i saw it on its first day of release. I formulated an opinion that movie critics give reviews from a critics point of view, but since i am NOT a critic, but a fan of movies, that my point of view about the movie would be made up by myself.

I liked the film, and wasn't disappointed. I - unlike everyone else, had no preconceptions, had no dreams about what i would see, and never thought i was going to watch the most amazing story ever told. I went to see a film, totally distancing myself from expecting to be "blown away" a la opening of Star Wars etc.

Aliens was a good sequel, but i don't think that the atmosphere of the movie has surpased the suspense of the first one ever. It might have had bigger guns, more quotable lines or scenes like the school boys fav - the hand/knife - but the original retained more suspense, atmosphere, and mystery - for me anyway.

Empire was ALOT better than starwars though - so if you take that as a sequel - yep - good example. Same for the LOTR sequels or parts - all fantastic!!

Can anyone else mention more mainstream films - not the obscure film buffs stuff - like the ones taw knows .

Indiana Jones last crusade was more amusing that raiders - but i don't think it was better - but then again, i can easily put em on an "equal" status for me Love those films with a passion...

How about Toy Story 2? I thought it was as good as the first one, better? Dunno!

Akira Kurosawa is not obscure, he is on a par with Fellini, Bergman, Kubrick, Coppola, and his films greatfully influenced all the current "great" directors. Star Wars itself (Ep "4" was based upon his film "The Hidden Fortress" and the Jedi are largely based on samurai. Lucas has often expressed his admiration and debt to kurosawa, although he's tight lipped about it nowadays.

Who? who and who? The last two I know of, and have seen some films of too - but i dunno the others! Bergman just makes me think Ingrid

You're close, Chips. It's Ingmar Bergman.

Taw,

Chips said he was a movie FAN not an aficionado.

<edit>

Or did he say he was a philistine and not an aficionado. I forget now.
