The sequel

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

The sequel

With the soon to be out Spiderman 2, I was curious as to what everyone's favorite sequel is. Even if you did not like the original.

MIne is a toss up with Matrix: Revolutions and US Marshals (sequel of The Fugitive)

was revolutions the 2nd or 3rd? if it was the third....that sucked! my favorite would probably be....uhhhh....man sequels suck....uhhhh....i'll have to get back to you on that one...

Empire Strikes Back... the end all beat all sequel. So much darker and deeper that the other films.

That's all I have to say about that.

My favorite sequel? The Return of the King. By far the best sequel and best movie I have ever seen.

"If it's our time to die, it's our time. All I ask is that when it's our time, if we have to give these b******s our lives, WE GIVE 'EM HELL BEFORE WE DO!"

I have to agree with Topher. I think Empire is the only sequel I've seen where I wasn't dissapointed at the end, ditto ROTJ. I'm an OT fan boy.

EDIT: I completely forgot about Return of the King, frickin ace movie.

I think I'll say Batman Returns or Aliens.

I knew that you were a closet "fan boy" of some type, Mustang! .

I agree, the LOTR sequels were excellent.

Post Thu May 06, 2004 10:36 pm

Sequels are never as good as the first movie in anything. But I think that LOTR Return of the King was pretty good, (too damn long though).

Post Thu May 06, 2004 11:08 pm

The reason why the LOTR sequels were good was because they
were all filmed at the same time. I consider the LOTR trilogy as
one long movie rather than three serpate ones.

Post Thu May 06, 2004 11:27 pm

Yes, they were all filmed at the same time. However, as time passed by, they redid many of the special effects sequences for both TTT and ROTK, redid several shots and even entire scenes, they even made changes to ROTK up till like 2 weeks before it hit the theaters.

In any case, my favorite sequels are The Empire Strikes Back, The Return of the Jedi, The Two Towers, The Return of the King, Aliens (sequel to Alien) and my most favorite sequel of all time is.......

The Godfather part II

populist heathens. what about Akira Kurosawa's "Sanjuro" the brilliant sequel to his earlier "Yojimbo?" Both films formed the basis for that brilliant Western pairing of "For a Fistful of Dollars" and "For a Few Dollars More" and are amongst the greatest films ever made (masterpieces)

TESB and ROTJ are vastly superior to original SW (Ep4 thats really Ep1* if you saw it in 77) and TT and ROTK aren't sequels really, but continuations of the story shown later for convenience. (*Ep1, the real Ep1 and not that stupid rubbish with that annoying whiney kid.)

and what about Kill Bill 2? tis fookin ace..

Fd, ffs, Revolutions? I was cringing behind my seat in embarassment it was that bad. i came out feeling cheated, I almost asked for my money back.

Return of the King was great

"A TopGun through and through"

Kill Bill 2 was a great sequel. Arguably the humour was much less subtle compared to the first. But I don't think I'll ever forget Pai Mei or Elle Driver's fight

Yet to see Kill Bill 2 - but remember Taw - as you said about ROTK - it aint a sequel baby - its just the second part of ONE story..........those "two" films are supposed to be ONE film split into 2 for more convienin- sod it - i cannot spell today.

It has to be said, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is part of an intended 3 films, not sequels, but written as one - but split into three as well.

Empire strikes back - you could argue that its the same as well.

Godfather part 2 is generally regarded as the only real sequel to improve on its predecessor - but I still fall asleep in those movies.

Matrix revolutions was crap! No-where NEAR as good as the first one. They "lost" the touch there - it was drivvel - entertaining drivvel certainly, but still drivvel!

To be honest, i am no real film buff - i like em, but no film buff like taw!!
So i cannot proffer any others other than the mentioned Empire, Godfather etc.
