Mustang, the only problem with that is, we already have interfered with their way of life. If they have heard rock and roll, modern designer clothing, expencive cars, ect., then we have already changed things. In someways, we started the chain of events.

As a "civilized world", we are suppose to have a conscience that says, in our society's, that certain things are wrong. Weather purse snatching, mugging, robbery or what ever, if we know of it, and look the other way, what does that say about us. This is not an attack on anyone. Not every crime can be prevented. I just hope our hearts never get hard that we can't feel the pain of those who hurt, harmed, killed, abused or any other action that happens. For myself, I never want to not hurt, if they hurt. Maybe I watch too much TV or am on the computer too much. I don't know.

I wonder why this guy didn't try to find the f**k who did it and try to kill him instead. on the other hand, I didn't read the article, so I don't know. Cultures differ, but killing kids is not a good idea in either of them IMHO.

An idea came to my head and is now desperately searching for brain

I swear, if someone kidnapps and rapes your kid, you should have every goddamn right to hunt him down and rip him apart. Literally. I don't have kids of my own, but people who do this to children lose any right they have to live. This is why I believe in the U.S. the death sentence should be expanded to include crimes OF ANY KIND against children.

I know what you mean. Sometimes you see these things and you want to go change the world to make it better. Well, you never know - if enough people band together, they can make differences...

Maybe we all are in agreement on this. I don't know.

On the idea of cultural chauvinism (i.e, Western culture is the superior utopia) there is one thing that isn't being discussed here. And that is the value of a human life in the first place and the place of women in societies.

The honor killings pretty much spells out one position rather starkly about women and their life value, so to speak. If the justice to be meted out was as brutal and quick for the male offender, I don't know that we'd be quite so indignant, although we'd still be appalled. But being that the rapist is pretty much left alone, the point is that female lives have far less value than males in that society. Is that good or bad?

Whether we "understand" what goes into that kind of thinking, I think we are entitled to consider whether a system that promotes this type of injustice, if you will, is to be applauded or condemned. I think that condemning a culture that does this is acceptable behavior. I don't think that we are talking about some type of Western imperialism. We're talking about social justice.

What I now believe about women, I was not taught, but my thinking and understanding, due to reading and other, has changed it. I think in differnet terms these days. I look at a woman regargless of age as some one to be protected. Like if I am fighting someone, she stays behind me, out of harms way. I do not mean this as belittleing her, but as due to love, not wanting harm to come to her. Women, are our means of continuing in this life. With out them, life would end. She would share importance as much as I would. It takes both to have a child, and it takes both to complete life.

Children are our inheritance. They are who we live for and pass down our knowledge and to whom will then continue the family line, name, ect. They are treasure. To harm one is unthinkable. I do understand in todays society, there are time the children are a shame, but that always falls back on who rasied them.

Think of it in military terms for a moment. Your platoon is being inspected by the company General. You are slopily dressed and fail the inspection. That general knows who is to take blame. The sargent that is over you and was suppose to have tranined you properly. The same with children. The mother has the greatest respociblity as she is around them moreoften than the father as he usually busy working, though should make time when possible.

All this to say, we do have the possiblity to make change in the world, by action or lack of action and by our own behavior.

A sad note today. A woman a work reported the neighbor of her parents, the father was found dead of a gunshot wound at the hands of his son. This world is in need of caring. I leave my soap box, and no offence is entended to anyone.
