THE most sickening Yet!
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

There is a perverse logic involved in this. One that we find unacceptable but is believed in by many in these isolated communities: If a girl is dishonored in this way, she already has suffered a fate worse than death. Her family, if not "up" to the task of ending her life, will have condemned her to live a subhuman life thereafter.
And, unfortunately, all of these rules and strictures are perversely welded onto principles of religious belief which plainly were not intended to be abused in this fashion.

To complete the statement. Sorry everyone.

Its not so much a matter of judgeing, but one of warning that such things occure and should be stopped. If it is not brought to light, it would continue. One Will judge him one day, until then, would you want to see this type of thing continue? It turns my stomach when children are hurt or killed. I can not say why it does now, but it does. Many children were sickened and died from lead based paint till it was brought to light and the practice stopped. I know this comes accross as a soapbox deal, but it has affected me a great deal. I know there isn't a whole lot I can do first hand to stop this kind of thing, but, if by telling of it, helps another heart to care, then good can come of it, thats all. I will let this die now too. Speach done.

@ ShadowFire,
You have no right to pass judgement. You live in the western world, and have no clue what people in other clutures beleive or where their triditions stem from.
I have no idea what their mentality is either, and frankly, it is none of my buisness.
There are many things, in my opnion, that are worse then death.
@ Jagged,
How sedestic...*is admused*. I still like the bamboo one
@ kaegogi,
It's easy to call people deamons and fiends eh? I don't defend theis people, I certently do not defend the rapest. I was brought up in a house where girls are higher then boys. But I can see the point of view for the father. Honour can be more important then life...just like the Kilongons
@ sycho_warrior,
*Is interesting in knowing*
Isn't it fun how religion changes to suit political means?

In a sign of the changing times, Turkey's Muslim preachers recently condemned honour killings and said all forms of murder were a sin in Islam and were forbidden.

@RILMS: Actually, no it wasn't easy to call them fiend and demon. As a matter of fact limiting my language to what's considered acceptable on this site was very hard.
As to the "Kilongons" (assume you meant Klingons) sense of honor; I'm afraid that as reality doesn't currently include known alien species I find myself unable to apply their "honor code" to this situation. The facts seem simple enough to me.
1. Man rapes child.
2. Father kills child for being raped.
3. Evil.
How politically correct do we have to be? Do we have to sit back and say, "Well it's part of their culture, so let's tolerate it." even when it's blatantly evil? Moral dishonesty IMO. Such dishonesty and "tolerance" has led to Western society turning a blind eye to an awful lot of terrible stuff. Right up until it lands on our doorstep that is.

Although I hate being politically correct and I do think that man should be hung by his family jewels. People talk of Western society as some sort of utopia that should be sweeping the world of evil. It's not our place to be interfering, and there's nothing we can do anyway. I mean, what should be do? Invade a country because we don't like it's culture and impose Western society values upon them? That just puts us in another Iraq situation with soldiers and civilians dying pretty much every day.
It's an axe, I use it to...hack at people
You'd be surprised how much it costs to look this cheap

Agreed fish, we can't impose our values on a people that have to make the rules and govern themselves. Brutality amoungst western society used to occur frequently, we were burning people at the stake for heresy just over 100 years ago. That's not to mention the frequent beheadings and god knows what went on behind closed doors. We have fortunately moved on from then and these countries will eventually do the same, but it is not our place to enforce our beliefs upon them. They and only they can progress their society, a society cannot evolve at gun point.
I didn't bother to clarify. I'm in no way, shape or form suggesting Western society is a utopia or the "one model" that the rest of the world needs to follow. I merely pointed out the fact that a morally dishonest claim of "respecting other cultures", "tolerance" and "non-interference" has led to a number of attrocities being ignored up until the point where those attrocities threatened to hit home or actually began to hit home.
I'm questioning the wisdom of taking a stance of that nature.
I can see how someone might take my posts as some form of Call to Action, but they're not. I'm just trying to refute the idea that respecting another culture should take priority over the basic right of a child to life.
As to what we can do: In this case I have no clue. Just be angry I suppose. I'm afraid I don't work for the State Department and have no clue what's possible. However nations with alot of political and economic power can influence, and have influenced other nations to reduce instances of basic human right violations. e.g. imposed our values.
