This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Speeking of Arcs. I wonder if we'll ever find the Ark of the Covenant.

You wouldn't think so - it's tiny compared to the other Ark, it could be deep underground by now. Still, I suppose it would be good to find it...

Just remember not to look at it

I saw a program several months back - one of the best i have seen on Channel 4 for a LONG LONG time.....and it was about "Joseph and his ol techno dreamcoat" - or technicolors dreamcoat......erm, technicoloured dreamcoat! Thats the one.

Anyways - piecing together the evidence, which was damned interesting, they think they found his "place of rest" so to speak. Throughout history in Egypt and etc, they found clues that pointed towards the man.....and it was the most riviting docu i have seen for - well, probabily ever on Channel 4 anyway! They traced it, along with folklore, paintings, descriptions/hirogliphics (sp?) and other sources, all the way back from start to finish.....

Strange point, but basically that the bible may have had factual histories, and not just made up stories for lots of things. Of course - whether it was really linked to religion or not is another matter/topic - and NOT for the board, but something i always thought of as a "tale" might have been true.......who knows what else might be true

the Ark of the Sacred Covenant currently resides in the Church of St Mary in the city of Axum, Ethiopia. Not a fake, not a replica, not something that's been mistaken for the Ark; 'tis the real deal. One day i will get to go and see it firsthand (if i'm allowed, and the Guardian monk considers me worthy.

I'm not kidding you, it's there. Whether it's of divine origin is another matter, but it's the same gold covered box that could lift itself off the ground, burn anyone who approached, and wipe out entire armies. Want to learn more, or shall i shut up?

Wow - I thought it would have been lost ages ago...

How do they know it's the real one? They'd need to have a long series of writings from ancient times to confirm it...

@Taw,

That what is best proved to be the Ark is in Axum, I will agree. Whether this Ark can do all those things, that's a different issue altogether.

But from the perspective of best historical proofs, the Ethiopian Christians have the best case to possessing it. The pity has been, in the past at least, that cultural prejudices kept most of the West from accepting this fact or to giving the Ethiopian proofs the same weight of credibility that other, less worthy ones, were given.

PS. If you DO get to Axum and if you DO get to see it, do be careful. Even if I don't think it is invested with all those powers, there is no point in tempting the fates.

NBC suit i reckon, Ed, the thing's radioactive.

Yet again I'm gobsmacked. I had no idea that they have found what they think is the Ark of the Covenant. Good god. Time to sort out a plane ticket methinks, I've got to see that bugger. Anybody know of any documentation on it? I fancy learning something today...

The bible

My life just flashed before my eyes, and it was rather boring.

Post Thu Apr 29, 2004 12:31 pm

can you imagine at all what it would be like to see it, even if only once? to stand in view of the receptacle that supposedely houses the presence of God himself? and it's been in Axum (and a few other places) all this time, and it wasn't even a secret.. what if it really is what the Bible says it is, and it's God's instrument on Earth? wouldn't that be a headf*ck?

Post Thu Apr 29, 2004 12:47 pm

If the Ark of the Covenant that's in Axum is the real deal, I would love to see it. But as Indy11 said, even if it doesn't possess all those powers, you might want to keep your distance. It would be protected by booby traps. If it DOES have those powers, which I honestly believe it does, but I could be wrong, I hope it doesn't get stolen or fall into the wrong hands. If it does possess powers the bible speaks of, and it does fall into the wrong hands, it could possibly be turned into the most powerful weapon this planet has ever seen. When it comes to the Ark of the Covenant. I'm prepared to take a few things about it on faith.

I gotta admit, even though I'm a totally materialistic heathen, that it puts the willies up me. if i ever did get to see it (highly unlikely) I'd prob brick my pants. And i wouldn't open the lid. no way. Who would?

Darn, I guess if I posted my opinion about all this stuff, I'd be flamed (at least) or banned (at most). So, since I wish to remain here, I'd keep my opinion to myself.
BTW, OT in OT, is it just my PC, or is there a prob - i messages and forum titles, I get random words presented as links leading to sth like _ search. com (some advertising site)?

An idea came to my head and is now desperately searching for brain

@ff very amusing. I've read it cover to cover and I don't seem to remember anything about the 21st Century location of the Ark being in there...I wonder why that is?!

@taw I find the concept of this mind-blowing. I am totally intregued by the fact they claim it to be the Ark....do you know any more details about it? How they proved it etc? I mean, how do you prove that the power of god is in a box without opening it? I would love to see it, but I've got to admit I think it would bring even the strongest of men to their knees....if you got there, listened to the story, saw the ark and then were completely convinced....how small would you feel? how much fear would be in your heart? thats got to be the most powerful experience a human can have right? Especially so if you have no belief to begin with....

I know lots of details about it, but it's too long to post here. Anyway it's all in Graham Hancock's book about it.
