sw, good point once again! that's even more cynical than me at times. However i think that uring the perid the Israelites are actively using the Ark in the 2 cneturies prior to the battle of Ebenezer, the Ark is pretty specific and consistent in what it does. It is q cleearly a weapon, a device, a construct, and when utilised properly with the correct "rituals" by the initiated Levites, brings instant victory. When it is not, it's either useless or backfires on whoever's around it. As Israel expands after the Promised Land is reached, there comes a point where conventional military means at Israels disposal is sufficient to carry the day and so the Ark gets left at Shiloh. When it got brought out again after a long period of rest, at the Battle of Ebenezer, it wasn't used as such, the idiots just took it along and expected it to work all by itself!

Taw the Ark is not a weapon, it couldm't do ANYTHING, it was God who helped the Isrealites(sp) not the Ark, the Ark was just a symbol

That's Noah's Ark, kimk. We were originally talking about that one, but this is the Ark of the Covenant, where the remains of the tablets of the Ten Commandments are said to lie

kimk you get Noah's ark and the ark of the convenat one was used during the flood and the other (the Ark of the concvenant) was used to keep the ten commandments and I think moses's staff and some other stuff

It's all a big lie, the coptics don't have the Ark. It's in my garage, has been for years, can't let you see it though. Y'know it's all holy and stuff.

Sound familiar? Those monks are probably just guarding a burnt out fridge they found in the local landfill. Wrapped it up in gold alfoil and bobs your uncle, Ark of the Covenant.

I really do beleieve that it's in Axum and I really am convinced that it is the true Ark of the Covenant in all its power and majesty. That's why I want to see it so much, so that I can know. While I don't beleive it's of divine origin, but the result of ancient science more advanced than we credit (c'mon, there's more than enough evidence now to convince even the most skeptical that the ancient world had a hidden body of technological knowledge) But IF I could get to to the thing I'd know for sure if it was a device, or if it really carries the Divine presence and the Word of God. Can you imagine if it does? I'd be f*kt..

yeh kimk you're getting the Arks confused again. having said that, the name isn't a coincidence. the design of the AoC was derived from Egyptian funerary shrine objects, such as the golden boats that were supposed to carry the soul to the afterlife, they look the same as the Ark pretty much (you can see them in the Cairo museum and in tthe British Museum as well) in fact some look so boat like you could put a set of play animals with them and turn it into the AoN...

ooo this opens up a whole new line of discussion on the imagery of the boat and water in Egyptian and Hebrew mythology and magic, but unless someone's willing to bite i won't go on about it; nearly clinches the argument though!

oh god yeh i forgot about that meself; that reminds me now of all those stories of giants and those starnge pre-conquest metal plaques in the ground in N. America that were found by the 18th C surveyors. Now wtf is all that about, i wonder?
