Star Wars Galaxies has a space sim expansion pack

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Star Wars Galaxies has a space sim expansion pack

This was really cool news, Star Wars Galaxies has a new space-sim expansion pack. I've always wondered when it would come, a game that you literally could walk around on a planet then take off in your ship and fight your way to the next planet. It's just too bad it has come at this point in my life when I really don't want to sit down and play such a thing for any length of time.

Remarkably, the space scenes aren't as beautiful as Freelancer.

Here's a link to the site: Star Wars Galaxies Expansion

I'm don't play Huge Multiplayer games (Everquest, FFXI etc), but out of curiosity, which are the best ones ?

neo (catperson) - the best candys are ofcourse by Kalev, but I couldn't tell you the best MMOG (sinced I'm hooked up with every single one that I have had time to buy). SWG is fairly good and since I have have seen more improvement here than onother MMOGs then it can be quite satifiying. And there for my favorite.

Earth and beyond was fun for the first 5 days, (and very easy to lear, I wish evey game would to easy to learn if you pay for it monthly) then it got boting since I had already gotten to lvl 22, no 32 and visited every damn system in the game. (a VERY good community, you can ask em anything and one guy donated me 100k for nothin)

EVE online is a lot more difficult to master, but after you can handle that it gets only better. There are so many places to go that I got claustrophibic of the size. This is the game that resebles FL most, but has all the cool freatures (like multiple ships and official corporations) anotherthing it had was the learning system, you don't have to grind for it or anything. Al lyou do is put the next skill and you learn it in a set time (they start with 2 hours or so and end with months[or so I've been told, never got that far{got to check my character more often} luckly the time will run even if youre not logged on)

I've hear that everyone in Korea plays lineage so I checked out lineage 2 and what do I see? Nothing worth seeing, after the last games it feel soo pointless and dull (or maby its just me that I hate the usual magic\fantasy RPG game) I don't wanna thing about it.

and well, City of heroes isn't out yet, but I loved flying around there shooting things with my assult rifle (I'm a wierd superhero yes, but least I'm not traveling by bus) I knew what hero I wanted and completed it in a few minutes and to those wondring, the character creation isn't so great as they say, they've got only like 6 or 7 different types of glives tehre!

Too bad it isn't SP. Then I'd consider it (damn modem!).

actually SWG dosen't require a fast connection and is the best for slow connection users from that list, its the ram and mhz the game wants

I've got cable and I still think it's a damn shame that it isn't playable in SP. I hate multiplayer. Correction I don't mind multiplayer I just hate having to deal with concieted teenagers who think interjecting 10+ vulgarities into a single sentence classifies it as a witty retort.

Oh my f***in god i HATE star wars galaxies. Its the most buggy, boring, crappy MMORPG I have ever had the displeasure to buy. I bought it in about a month i got Master Commando and there was NOTHING to do. AT ALL. I had seen pretty much everything, even so far as to get lists of all attractions and oddities on all planets and going out to see them. Its incredibly buggy and just plain out sucks on all frontiers. They let you build player cities and made the cap fairly high, so many planets are simply big boards of nothing but city to city with barely any real wildlife in between. Then this also might be rooted in the fact that generally I hate Star Wars. And for those of you who think im all about Fantasy MMORPGs I have a much lesser opinion of Final Fantasy XI. All these games take up so much space and time. My friend and I tried Lineage 2, and it was his first MMORPG ever. He got sick of it after 2 hours. And to be honest I can see why, spending your valuable free time (my time) playing a game that your BORED in trying to get stronger / get better stuff etcetera in. When you can be playing some really fun FPS or RTS or other type of game.

And while I do agree with his views, I do actually play some MMORPG's, I play EVE Online, which I would quit had it not been so big and enthralling. Though the game itself is fairly slow and much of the focus is on money and the combat sucks. But for some reason im interested in it. Anyhow, I also play Dark Age Of Camelot, as far as im concerned its the best game out there but even it has gotten boring and I have suspended my account as of late.

Mustie - you underestimate those guys, 10+? more like 40+in a 41 word sentence. Altho if they aren't speakin german then they are good fellows, I've seen only one roxxorz haxxorz leet lad in that game so far, even most of those rebel scum are nice and polite.

commont *cough*commie*cough* here made some constructive critizism I do not know how the hell did he get that kind of things as he tells (like no wildlife), but I think its cuz of the servers he played on. I'm a explorer by nature so I travel lots of km a day there and I see citys\towns so little that I sometimes think that sb dissapeared all citys. eveyone has got a right to their oppinion and my opinion of you just drop cimmie, I can't find a reason for it tho... must... use... brain...

sS, those screenshots almost make we want to give it a go, an afternoon shooting Rebel scum q appeals, but I'm not too turned on by MP for the reasons Emperor 'Tang gave - pre-adolescent vermin pk-ing and typing 3ndl355 l33t drivel. Shame really.

but it looks better than Everquest. Mind you the bottom of my cat's litter tray looks better than Everquest.

the expansion is out in the autumn.

My life just flashed before my eyes, and it was rather boring.

@Taw, they almost make me want to give it a go too. As I understand it so far, there won't be a lot of ships to choose from, but then Privateer didn't either and I love that game. (BTW, the Privateer mod for Freelancer is out now, check the news page )

Also, I never played TIE Fighter, how fragile is that ship in games? To have no shields and thin hulls it seems like you wouldn't stand a chance in the game against an X-Wing. In X-Wing IIRC it took 3 hits to kill a TIE.
