Dumbest World Record Ever Set

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Also reminds me of those old black and white Movietone News voiceovers about some professor somewhere inventing a flying machine and, at demonstration time, has the "fillum" record their rather humorously catastrophic failures.

Well, I have no problem with skaters, they are nice, tolerant, and generally polite and friendly. I would MUCH prefer to live in a neighbourhood dominated by Skaters than the little crims that we have living round here........
At least they HAVE a hobby/past time that they are passionate about. For everyone on the net here - your views about them being dumb etc, reminds me of what people who don't use a comp call those who do.....sad geeks.....

Why do the loop the loop? cause its a challenge, the adrenalin, and everything else that goes with it! Why climb a mountain? Why parachute? Why play games at all? Why go exploring and do whatever you do for "fun". I am not a skating fan to be honest, but i do think that a thread like this is just to pour scorn on something you personally don't like. Heck - for that, i could make a millions of em

Its just a personal opinion, I think skaters differ by city. Here, where I live skaters are cocky, dumb little f***s who think their untouchable. So they act all tough in front of the wrong person, get a jolly good thrashing and then later talk about how he kicked some guys ass. Every single one of them does that as the bruises are an excuse for getting the lights beat outta them. At least here in vegas. Here they are the most annoying people I have ever had the displeasure to meet.

PS: Yeah i figure I was using the flamethrower a bit but I was pretty pissed when I wrote it and I couldnt help but pick on someone whos dumb.

I agree with Chips. We've got three skate parks in our town and I personally like seeing all those kids out there having fun. Much better that than standing around on some street corner getting in trouble. Also those kids all tend to be in pretty good shape and skating really does take alot of hard work and discipline to master. I like watching the skating part of the x-games just for the incredible athleticism of the skaters.

lol, I wish the skaters round here would skate! There seems to be a huge divide between most of the teenagers. You're either a yob type dressed up like an Adidas factory exploded, with Nike caps kept at a perfect 45°, and your hobbies include hanging around in bus stops, graffing, stealing, underage drinking and vandalism. Or you're a grunger/skater type who wears baggy pants, carries a skateboard around but rarely ever actually bothers to ride it, while hanging around in a group of other similarly decked out people trying oh so hard to be "alternative", often part of this image involves being persecuted by the yob types. Then there's the unfortunately dwindling sane group who just try and avoid it all and do their own thing.

I have no problem with skaters at all, if you get out, do your own thing and don't **** things up for everyone else, I'm happy for you. I'm not gonna label a guy as stupid because he does something where he gets hurt from time to time. With quite a few things it's just part of the sport, you pick yourself up, figure out where you went wrong and move on. You don't learn to ride a bike without stacking it a few times at first. As for those cynical buggers who think the best course of action is to whinge about a guy doing what he likes in his spare time, keep your nose out of other peoples **** and go do something yourself!

I completely agree with Comont54 on the difference by city I've lived in a lot of places some places they were fine others they wern't. However lost of them are all such losers that its funny, they stand there on there boards and turn around and all thier friends clap.

talking of world records Guinness Book of Records founder Norris McWhirter has just died aged 78 after suffering a heart attack whilst playing tennis

I always thought that the Guinness World Book of Records was much older. Am I mistaken are there not records in it that are older than 78 years?

@Comont54: You're an ass. You're an ass for many reasons, and if you'll spare the time to read this instead of trying to shove you're on head up you're sphincter, you'll see why:

"Skaters are dumb" - Really? Every one of them? Every single skater in the entire world is dumb is that it? Cause it sounds like it from where im standing that over there in retardo-land or wherever you live that the freak occurance when you're not sleeping with your sister that you might actually meet some people that you met like ONE poser guy who carries his board more than he's on it. Ive met ALOT of skaters and i know the sort of people you imagine you've got psychoanalysed from you're university degree level education in the field. The sort that wear a black themed shirt, have shortish gelled hair or wear a beanie, have baggy jeans, a chain to their wallet etc. And here's a few facts about them
1) the dont give a **** about you. 2) they dont give a **** about you're opinions 3) you are no better than them in any way, shape or form.
Now when you think about it like that you're high horse you're on is looking more like a shetland pony.

RASHLY generalising like that makes you an ass, theyre not trying to be rebelious, the status quo is so blurred these days that i dont think there's a real rebel left in the world. It was rebellious when the norm wasnt this, but these social groups kept on living and ceased being rebelious. It wasnt societies choice or something, they just evolved into being accepted and the Skaters didnt even look up to notice.

Alot of skaters, and especially adult skaters, do things like loops, not to impress some girl in their class at school, but to see if they physically can. The skills of a skater and the whole mentality of the skater is that they need to keep trying new things. Once youve perfected something you do it all the time and try hard at something new, You're always the student, always learning. As such someone wanting to do a loop on a board sounds "mental" but you're gonna wanna watch it because youve never seen it before. THATS what drives a skater, to do it, just for the sheer hell of it.

Why climb Everest? Because its there.

You were always discouraged from taking any risks as a child werent you. Always wore plenty of padding when doing anything even remotely dangerous, probably want to aspire to be a beurocrat, handing out paper liscences to use a ladder. A skater knows that he's not gonna be able to do a loop on his first attempt. Get on a board and do a trick you were told to do for the first time. Weeks can go by before you perfect it, and when you're doing it expect to get beaten up. A little physical pain never hurt anyone you pussy (well it did, but you know what i mean). Theyre NOT afraid of grazing a knee, twisting an ankle or breaking a rib, it'll grow back after all. So dont begrudge someone for wanting to do a trick becasue you in your infinite wisdom deems it dumb.

As i said, you are an idiot. You watch these stunt shows, then generalise everyone who is like him who wants to do something no one has done before because there's risk and danger involved in it. Grow the hell up and stay away from me.
