This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Taw tells me that you have been a bad boy, ff. What have you been doing?

Taw - How about "Tawakalnian Computers"? You could have the slogan "Knocking the political dominoes over; one at a time" .

ff - I have great manual dexterity for my species .

vangoh

@ Vangoh, do you have the full version of XP? Cause it sounds to me like you don't, if you initiate the XP set-up via the boot process you get all sorts of wonderfull options to repare, restore and re-partition your disk.

Buy Tawpaq!
"In every pc there's a little bit of Taw and a little back door.....y'know just in case."

Van - Have you set the BIOS to boot from the CD?

Post Mon Apr 19, 2004 4:39 pm

nope could u maybe tell me how to do that (in detail if possible) thx

HEY! WHAT! OK!

Post Mon Apr 19, 2004 6:13 pm

@Van,

Not that I don't believe you. BUT, if you own a Dell, didn't the Windows disk you got come from Dell as also? Usually, that Windows disk is NOT a full system disk but a recovery or restore disk. Does the literature that comes with the disk actually say that it is a full installation copy? Just want to make sure BEFORE you boot up with that disk.

Post Mon Apr 19, 2004 6:18 pm

In can't speak for Dell, But compaq comes with a recovery disk as well as the OS disk. It can not de used by itself, but with the recovery disk. Maybe he has this set up?

Post Mon Apr 19, 2004 7:36 pm

Van - Standard procedure is to change the boot order. It is usually easy to find, and you simply alter the order by selecting something like "A:\,C:\,SCSI", or your CD-ROM drive. I cannot go into more detail, as I do not know the layout of your BIOS.

@Fd cc: Van

Hope so. My Dell came only with the restore disk and it basically wipes out everything and reinstalls what came with the Dell at purchase.

<Edit>

Of course, that was a little over three years ago so things may have changed for the better since then.

You gotta read peoples replies Van, I told you to set your boot order in your BIOS when I posted last night. You'll never boot from your cd in a billion years if that's not set right.

Eskie, wicked ff has been Kazaa-ing and has riddled his pc with spyware and adware and god knows what else and came crying for help last night. How many times have you and I warned against this p2p rubbish, breeding ground for viruses? How many times have you promoted use of decent spy-removers? Does anyone listen? No. Next instalment, ffs pc turns into heap of useless junk because of viruses/trojans and 9 zillion background tasks and he needs help with the worlds most expensive paperweight...
