Tragic Event

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Tragic Event

Hi everyone, I know I haven't been around at all for quite a while, but I still know many of you and consider you my friends. At about 7:30 this morning, I was emailing some recent photo's of my kids to my Aunt in Arizona, then the phone rang. I figured it was one of my daughter's friends (they have a habit of calling at strange hours), but it wasn't. It was the mother in law of one of my oldest friends. This past Thursday he was away at a work seminar, and decided to take his own life.

His name was Arnold Budding. I've known him since 1985, been friends since, was an usher at my wedding, shared many joys together. He was one of those people who never let you think it was a "rainy day". Always smiling, always good news, always the most sociable at parties etc. I always worry about people like that, when there's never "anything wrong". I guess whatever it was that was troubling him built up too much inside for him to take anymore, and he ended it in a hotel room on Thursday. He left a wife and a 7 year old son. It truly reminds me how much one's life affects others.

I've suffered clinical depressions on and off most of my life. I know very well what suicidal thoughts are, and what it's like to live in hell. Thank GOD I get help for this. Medical, Pastoral, and fellowship, and just letting others know when I'm hurting. It doesn't make the hurt go away, but it does let me know I'm not the only person on earth suffering during these episodes. I just got over a 6 month depression which I had suicidal thoughts daily, and lost my job because I just couldn't face dealing with people. I'm better know, thankfully, and am working again. Communicating this stuff makes such a difference, and my three kids won't have to attend Daddy's funeral, as I will be attending Arnold's on Monday night.

I plan on coming back here more often. It's been a bad habit of mine many times to just disappear from friends, groups, etc. Like sneaking out the door without anyone seeing you.

Thanks for listening. I miss you guys, I hope to hear from you all.

Jeez, my condolences, Boscoe, I know what it means to lose a friend. However, you must stay strong, as you could also provide comfort for your friend's family - they need it. And, whenever you feel at least a bit depressed, call on TLR - as you said, it won't make the pain go away, but it will be easier. I found it sometimes easier to talk to people you never met rather than to those around all the time. Good luck, Boscoe, we're with you!

An idea came to my head and is now desperately searching for brain

Thanks for writing Boscoe. I'm truly sorry to hear about your friend. Stay strong, your family and his family will need you. I hope you decide to stick around for a while, this place has a habit of taking your mind off things....

Thanks all of you. I'm kinda one of the "originals" here, going way back to when this was a Starlancer site. Gibby, EB, Stinger, and that crowd know me from back then. At one point I had the most posts of any non-moderator. I see I'm still an Admiral, Gibby's kept my moderator ranking. Nice of you my friend.

The best of luck to you.

I'm sorry about your friend...I think I can relate to how you must feel right now, and I know how hard it can get. I want you to know that we're here for you, to try and help the best we can. I'm glad to see you're still with us, too bad it had to be this unfortunate event that brought you back to TLR... I hope you'll stay awhile, I know how much this place, these people here helped me, saved me even, from a similar outcome... I can never thank them enough, but can I try to do the same for someone else...

Careful what you wish... You just might get it.

Long time no see boscoe!!
You know, the two bast things you can do to clear up a problem is to write about it, and tell others about it, considering your doing both here, you feel ALOT better!

You have friends in us all here, look what hapened when worth went! it would be reasonable to assume that we would have the same response if you were to 'dissapear' as well!

I had no idea Bos....I hope you can stick around for a while, as you know this place can be very theraputic, cause you'll eventually find out that every member is as screwed up as the next one.

My condolences. I too, had a school friend who committed suicide for reasons unknown just a few years ago. His reasons are still something of a mystery to both his friends and family unfortunately, because he was always the happy and optimistic type.

Geez, dude. I'm sorry about what happened. I know what it's like to lose a good friend to suicide. It's not easy to get over. I had a friend that killed himself on January 5, 2000. It was one of the hardest days of my life, so I know exactly what you're going through, Boscoe. The worst part about someone committing suicide is not knowing what's going through their head at that moment. You always ask why. That's always the question that will never be answered. I've actually contemplated it myself, but I didn't have the guts to go through with it. It's a terrible thing to deal with and I wish you and you're friend's family the best.
