X2: The Waste of Time
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

LOL.. I thought you all just deleted this thread about ten minutes after I posted it. Thanks for sticking it in the off topics forum. As much as I cry n moan, I appreciate the site n you guys who run it. I think I visit this site more than any other these days and of the Freelancer sites it the best. Kudos.
For the rest:
X2 just flat out sucks. Another good concept shot to hell by piss poor execution. I wrote this thread as a warning to any who are even remotely concidering buying X2. It's a waste of money and time. The thought of owning multiple ships was very appealing. Being able to build my own bases is a fantastic concept. I jumped into X2 ready to go...then I got into the cockpit of the 'discoverer' prepared for me and was like. "how do I fly this thing anyway." So I went through all the tutorials before I began my adventure. Ship control was clumsy. I figured I'd just customize the controls to suit me, but for the life of me I've not seen how to do that.
The game deffinately has a more realistic "in space' kind of feel to it and scale seems a bit more appropriate. The extensive customizability of ship equipment seems pretty cool. But I'll probably not give the game any more time because it's failings will just piss me off. When in third person mode they stick the ship right in the middle of the screen so you can't really see anything but the ass end of your ride. It's those kind of details that really irk me. I mean come on. Nobody testing the game said to someone. "hey do you think we can move the ship to the bottom of the screen? I can't see what's infront of me." That's sort of important don't you tinink. And that my friends is a clear idicator as to how the game plays. Let's say your cruising along at top speed and you want to turn so you move the mouse just a little bit. What happens?... My ship not only turns on a dime, no turn radius like you'd expect, you know, a sweeping arc, but it spins around twice like a top on a stick and ends up facing God knows where. No, the game seems appealing but it dies in the details. It might be a space simulation but the Ships, which are sort of intigral to a space sim contol so unlike anything you'd ever think. That's OK for Duck Dodgers, Not a space simulation.

I appreciate the warning, and I don't intend to buy it (Mainly because C&C Generals has caused lag, I don't want more). There have been lots of warnings but I figure a little more stress on it won't hurt much.
i'm not nerdy I'm just... uh.... uh... yeah, I'm nerdy.

Very slowww... argghhh...
When going to combat, which's also when you need the best possible performance, the game goes into slide show mode... :S
I can live with poor interfaces, bad cut scenes... but I wanna dog fight in a space simulation.
P 2.4GHz, 512 MB RAM, 128 MB Radeon 9200 shouldn't be experiencing this much lag... really. Played other games whose graphic imo is better than the game: URU. Still way better performance.
The code must be really messy or inefficient for the poor performance. Turn off all graphic features and etc, game doesn't look any better than FL. Yet even at the lowest resolution FL performs smoothly (at highest setting), while X2 seems to be choking.
What's up with that? Doesn't look like I'm the only one with that problem. Yeah hardware requirements advertised... misleading is an understatement to describe it, it's an outragous lie.

ermm... stinger, i don't know if you noticed (i'm not meaning to make you look bad here, wot with you being a mod an all that!) but he is actually saying what absolute crap the game is, and from this i can probab;y say with much confidence that he is probably not a fan!!!
In space, no one can hear you scream!
