We controll the major ports in Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina giving us totall access to the waters of the chesapeake bay and major ship yards. We also controll the Pennsylvania steel industry.

The forces of Unity has decided that the jumpgate manufactured by Arania is nothing less than a blatant attempt to destroy the security of our great homeworld and to transport the imperialistic troops of Rheinbackers bloodthirsty dictatorship.
Until further developments, the Unitarian fleet has successfully captured the vile device and erected an impenetrable shield around our forces based on the Gate. No traffic will be allowed in or out. The gate is deactivated until we are certain that it can be used for positve, and above all, peaceful purposes.
The Forces of Unity greets the new republic emerging in America but with a warning- if you attack the interests of our nation, we will attack you. Our Nerve Gas is very efficient.

Meanwhile, our great fleet has made it's first planetfall in Alpha Centauri, which has now been renamed Unity. The planet is a vast and teeming world of strange constrasts. One side is permanently facing the sun and maintains a very steady temperature of 30 degrees with no rainfall. This is to our main base, due to the vast mineral deposits found on it. The other side, is permanently facing away from the sun, with temperatrures around 15 degrees and fairly constant rainfall. We have decided to leave this part, for now. Our initial surveys have revealed dark and twisted creatures, many of which have never seen sunlight. The plants that grow there are poisonous and inedible.
We have decided our agriculture will take place on specialised Farm ships, in high orbit.

um, unity? that was an abandoned gate that was disconnected when it was realised that it was unneccesary to crate a gate 8 light seconds away from the hub. The gate was disconnected and abandoned at least 80 years ago, but i wouldnt be suprised if that old neptunium reactor kept it running until now.

@rhinbacker: i must implore that you prepare you attack squad to assault Aplha centurai, i have an operational station and gate in that system, there is 3 Battleships and four missile frigates, all shielded by class C-75 three foot thick 250000000 G Graviton Shielding and cloaker system. so dont try and attack it unity, or ill nuke whatever you sent with a 80Teraton nuke, new 150teraton warheads are in final testing stages.

Unity Defense Forces-

Our firebringer warships have been watching intently, the ships that have followed us from Sol. They appeared to be using some kind of primitive cloaking device, which, of course, our warships easily detected. Today, they headed home, no doubt to tell the warmongering scum of Rheinbacker and Arania where our great new world is, so that they can steal it from us via force.
At midnight, our ships opened fire. As it turns out, Arania saw no problem in telling these ships to tail us without adequate shielding. All three were destroyed.

Meanwhile, a small force of two Draken cruisers have entered the jumpgate and brought back news from the other side. As they passed through, they came under fire by a poised attack fleet of Aranic and Rheinbacker origin.
Our forces retreated, with several ships chasing them into the gate. As soon as they got through, we deactivated the gate again. Two of Rheinbackers warships, as well as five cruisers, one protype Aranic heavy artillery cruiser and countless fighters were crushed to death as the gate way destabilised.
The Overlord is very pleased with recent events, and hopes they will send a definite message that anyone who trys to destroy our great nation will pay the consequences.

@corsair: for the record, those probes were unmanned for that very reason and designed to self-destruct upon capture.

And for the record... i have no intention to destroy your civilisation, rhienbaker, however, does, and thats fine with me, you two can slug it out until ur black in the faces for all i care, im not getting involved. Unitarian Progress Announcement-
Our patrols have intercepted Arania's convoy in the Centurion Nebula, a vast and deadly cloud of intense radioactive heat, which is on the road to becoming a string of stars (Unitarian officials have already placed 18 powerplants at selected points in the pocket. The energy produced is so vast, that it can power the new Ring of Fire, a vast forcefield, punctuated by immense superlasers, for over a century on the amount of power generated in a week by the plants).

It seems the engines fitted on the craft were to weak to travel the miniscule distance from the gate. It took several minutes for our patrol to tow the decrepid wreck to Unity (first of all, they had to remove the primitive tracking device attached to it), and when our cargo handlers on the surface checked inside the ship, they were not pleased.
It seems that Arania has either greatly overestimated his technological ability, or they are actively trying to insult us;
on board the transport were: several hopelessly obselete plasma cannons, which we have dissassembled for their scrap metal and energy sources, 30 potatoes and a few dead cabbage plants, none of which would grow on our world anyway.

We are not amused, however, we see no need to shed any of Arania's peoples blood over it. They have life hard enough, what with the forced labor policies Arania has introduced, in order to fuel his relentless search for energy, which he gives away free to show off how "great" he is, while his people work 15 hour days just to afford enough food...
