What Should You Do With Your Billions of Dollars?

If ever any of you got lucky and super rich or earned his way to becoming super rich, would you consider giving money to charity or spending it on some kind of philanthropic (charitable) cause? If you would what would it be?

Here's a story about Ted Turner that I find fascinating.

OF COURSE, these are things to consider AFTER you've successfully founded your own country/empire through whatever means you found appropriate (thievery or thuggery), including a Socialistic Tawakalnian Peoples Republic.

<Edit> OK. Sir William Gates, III, MBE Has $24 Billion In His Foundation I have to admit he is backing quite a few worthy causes.

I'd give the Party of the century with you folks

Then I'd buy myself into Royalty and abolish the parts of the constitution that say that the King is on the same level as his subjects, and declare myself the absolute ruler. and I'd rule Holland as its supposed to be ruled (

I'd buy Adelaide and Melbourne, and turn them into stereo speaker systems, after dispossessing certain of the inhabitants.

rather more seriously as I'm sure you're getting tired of me ruining your threads by now

I would:

Set up charitable institutions for the impoverished children in third world cities.
Take out multinational corporate nastiness with my private army of mercenaries and fedayeen, esp. oil, mining and chemical concerns.
Buy up arms manufacturers and aerospace firms and deny their technology to the military.
Buy up huge tracts of rain forest and deny access to loggers, road builders and MacDonalds.
Build a supergun.
oh and lots more besides...
Get myself elected President of Russia by bribery and reform the Soviet Union.

I'd fund an overthrow of all the corrupt governments and put a Socialist Government in place all over the world that would make all people equal and everyone on one level, a perfect, utopian, one-class society.

I would also buy a large island in the middle of nowhere and set up a Community for the suppressed Homosexual, and anyone persecuted for Political reasons
I would want there to be no Bigatry. The only criteria to be admitted are: Raised with No religion whatsoever and being a Homosexual. (Women and men alike, Heterosexuals are also welcome)

Plus I would buy an island for either one party that is willing to move from Israel/Palestina and make sure that they are let there in Peace and Harmony!!

How can any of use really say what we would do with a large amount of money? Isn't it one of those situations in which it has to happen before making decisions? That being said, I would probably use it buy a house, etc, and then go a travellin' to the ancestral moors of Scotland. Colonsay in particular.

Okay okay okay. So it is kind of a "pie in the sky" question. I deserve your answers.

My thinking was that there probably are many other things like what Ted Turner is doing that other billionaires could do or are doing but we don't know very much about it. I was trying to explore whether the known plutocrats of the world have a conscience and what they are doing about it and in TT's case, it seems that he has.

I looking for what William Gates, Rupert Murdoch, and others are doing. Anyone know?

I say,
1. Retire
2. Pay off all the hospital debts people in my area owe.
3. Start and fund a prison ministry.
4. Build concrete housing for the poor requireing only $50 month rent.
5. Travel the world
6. Give some away to charities that have a proven track record of using money wisely.
7. Set up (100) $50,000 scolarships for those at the high school I graduated from.

Other things possible.
