Personally, I think that due to the Enterprise going back into earths past, they left someone behind on an island in the triangle and they set up a Duck Blind to watch the world and their generator is creating havoc with instrumentation. Might even be Spock himself.

I thought that the Atlanteans had moved Atlantis there, and were using their technology to assure that they had privacy .

Impossible! my ancestors Nuked Atalntis at least three thousand years ago in a civil war!

The answer is simple: The Federated States Of Micronesia have a massive underwater submarine there that they have equipped with an EMP gun that stops their victims from escaping. The reason they don't sink every ship that travels through is because they only attack people who either come from New Zealand or are somehow connected with it. They've been at a secret war with NZ for almost a century and they're trying to end it all in a massive submarine strike. Don't tell anyone I told you.

I knew it, we must destroy Micronesia now. Someone should alert Helen Clark, she's probably clueless about it.
